Highlights

Point 1

The Fusion of History and Nature in Miyajima

The Fusion of History and Nature in Miyajima
Miyajima is home to many historical buildings, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Itsukushima Shrine. It's said to have been built during the reign of Emperor Suiko over 1,400 years ago, and the sight of the torii gate standing in the sea is one of Japan's most iconic views. Other notable buildings include the five-story pagoda and Senjokaku. Additionally, Miyajima's primeval forest is designated as a natural monument by the government, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery where nature and history are fused together.
Point 2

Enjoy Miyajima's Local Cuisine

Enjoy Miyajima's Local Cuisine
In Miyajima, you can enjoy local cuisine such as Hiroshima's specialty okonomiyaki and oysters, which are particularly famous for being fresh and delicious. Souvenirs such as momiji manju (maple leaf-shaped cakes filled with sweet bean paste) and fried momiji (maple leaves coated in batter and deep-fried) are also popular. The Omotesando shopping street has many restaurants, so it's recommended to explore Miyajima while eating and drinking. Try finding a restaurant that suits your taste!
Point 3

Experience Nature on Miyajima Island

Experience Nature on Miyajima Island
Miyajima Island offers many experiences where you can interact with nature. For example, you can take photos with wild deer that arrived from the mainland by crossing the sea long ago, creating unforgettable memories. Although they are cute and accustomed to people, it's important to remember that feeding the deer is prohibited on Miyajima Island. In addition to the deer, you can also enjoy the beautiful seasonal views of Mount Misen visible from the ropeway. Through these experiences that harmonize with nature, why not feel the charm of Miyajima Island?
Point 4

Experience the Rich Nature of Miyajima's "Mount Misen"

Experience the Rich Nature of Miyajima's "Mount Misen"
Mount Misen has been a place of worship since ancient times, and it still retains untouched natural beauty. There are four hiking courses and a ropeway course, allowing visitors to enjoy cherry blossoms in the spring and autumn foliage covering the entire mountain. At the summit, which stands at an altitude of 535 meters, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. On clear days, you can even see Shikoku Island in the distance. The observation room has a veranda, so why not sit back and relax while feeling the pleasant breeze? It's a great way to take a break from your daily routine and spend a moment in peace.
Point 5

Relax and Stay at Accommodations

Miyajima Relax and Stay at Accommodations
There are many ryokans and hotels around Miyajima. These accommodations offer a peaceful time for both mind and body, such as the long-established ryokan "Miyajima no Yado Iwaso," which was founded in the late Edo period, and the "Nishiki-sui-kan," which has rooms with semi-open-air baths where you can relax while enjoying a view of the sea. "Livemax Resort Aki-Miyajima" and "Aki Grand Hotel" also offer day-trip hot springs! Why not go and heal your travel fatigue?
Point 6

Overwhelmed by the World's Largest Ladle

Miyajima Overwhelmed by the World's Largest Ladle
The world's largest ladle was created in 1983 with the intention of preserving the traditional craft of Miyajima. Measuring 7.7 meters in length, 2.7 meters in width, and weighing 2.5 tons, the size of the ladle is apparent at first glance when people stand beside it. The exhibition hall, etto Miyajima Exchange Center (Miyajima Town Development and Exchange Center), also includes an observation room and a rest area, making it a great place to take a break and experience the traditions of Miyajima.

Access

Miyajima Ferry that operates every 10 minutes
Ferry that operates every 10 minutes
There are two ferries that run from Miyajimaguchi Pier to Miyajima: "JR West Miyajima Ferry" and "Miyajima Matsudai Kisen". Both operate at 10-15 minute intervals during the day, so even during peak tourist season, you can visit Miyajima without waiting. Depending on the timing of the tides, you can also enjoy taking photos of the Itsukushima Shrine Torii Gate floating in the sea from the boat! In particular, the "JR West Miyajima Ferry" is recommended as it is the regular ship that gets closest to the Torii Gate.
