Matsue Castle is one of Japan's representative castles. It's one of the twelve remaining castles with a tower in the country and was designated a National Treasure in 2015. Even after 400 years since its construction, you can still see its impressive figure up close. From the top floor's Tengu Room, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Matsue City and Lake Shinji, and the view is exceptional. In addition, sightseeing boats cruise around the moat surrounding the castle, allowing you to feel the atmosphere of the castle town from the river surface. There are also samurai residences and souvenir shops around the castle, making it enjoyable to take a stroll. Matsue Castle is a great place to visit regardless of the season, as cherry blossoms bloom in spring and cool breezes blow in summer. When visiting Matsue City, we recommend visiting both Matsue Castle and Tamatsukuri Onsen!
