It is a scenic spot designated as a natural monument of the country, where you can see strata from about 16 million years ago. You can find many fossilized shells and whale fossils in this area. Fossils in the shape of a heart called "Happy Shell" are scattered around, and it is said that you will be happy if you find three of them, so please try to find them.

Iwami Tatagaura Fossil Hunting in 16 Million Year Old Strata!
Iwami Tatamigaura is a natural monument designated by the government where you can see strata from 16 million years ago. You can see seat-shaped rocks and fossilized shells, whale jawbones, and fossilized driftwood created by wave erosion. If you're interested in fossil hunting, try looking closely at the rocky areas of Iwami Tatamigaura. Fossils of shells and fish can also be found as the strata are solidified by calcium carbonate contained in the gravel rock. However, fossil collection on the rocky areas of Iwami Tatamigaura is prohibited as it is designated as a natural monument by the government. To enjoy it safely, it's recommended to understand the rules and manners beforehand and enjoy fossil hunting and viewing!

At Ishimijatogaura, Senjojiki and Nojiru Rocks are one of the main attractions. Senjojiki is a scenic landscape resembling a cliff created by the uplift of the seabed. It is a stepped rocky area formed by wave erosion as the sea transitions to land, stretching about 850 meters wide. It was named after the flat surfaces resembling tatami mats. Fossils such as shells and whales dating back approximately 16 million years can be seen in the rock layers. On the other hand, Nojiru Rocks are cone-shaped rocks formed by volcanic activity and erosion and weathering by seawater. Various sizes of Nojiru Rocks are scattered throughout Ishimijatogaura, and they are sometimes called "Oni no Sentakuiwa" (The Devil's Washboard) due to their fantastic shapes and mysterious atmosphere. It is said that the Nojiru Rocks in this area are made from rock layers dating back approximately 250 million years, making them the oldest in Japan. Senjojiki and Nojiru Rocks in Ishimijatogaura are popular tourist spots with a mystical landscape created by nature. You can learn about their history and unique features and experience the beauty of natural formations.

The Sainokawara Cave (Marine Erosion Cave) in Iwami Tatagaura is a cave created by the erosion of waves and is considered one of the highlights of Iwami Tatagaura. The cave is located at the end of a tunnel and upon entering, you will find a spacious area with a high ceiling. Inside the cave, there are many holes formed by wave erosion and unique shaped rocks, allowing you to feel the world of shallow seas from about 16 million years ago. Additionally, light shines into the cave, creating a mysterious atmosphere. This cave is a must-see for tourists and is especially recommended for photography.

Shimane Aquarium Aquas is an aquarium located within the Shimane Prefectural Iwami Seaside Park. Aquas not only displays various marine life, but also has a playground called Aquas Land. Admission is 1,550 yen for adults, 500 yen for elementary, junior high, and high school students, and free for preschoolers. The opening hours are from 9:00 to 17:00, and from July 20th to August 31st, it's open until 18:00. In addition, various events are held at Aquas, making it the perfect place to create memories with family and friends. Iwami Tatamigaura is a scenic coastal area designated as a natural monument by the government. When you pass through the tunnel, you can walk around the stratum from about 16 million years ago. There, you can see countless fossils of shells and whales, and experience a little sense of adventure. The area is about 5 hectares in size, raised by earthquakes on the seabed, and spreads over a slightly wider area than Tokyo Dome. This coast can be reached by passing through a deserted tunnel, allowing you to enjoy a quiet and natural environment. The stratum of the seabed that visitors can see in front of them gives a sense of the past appearance of the earth and has overwhelming power. It is a recommended place for summer swimming and walking, and there is a parking lot available 24 hours a day. This beautiful scenic area designated as a natural monument has become an attractive place!

トンネルを抜けると、まさに岩の畳が広がってます。トンネルの中は涼しく、途中には祠もあり神秘的な雰囲気。トンネルを出た瞬間に海の景色が広がります。潮の加減で変わるのでしょうが、岩の上を歩くこともできました。駐車場はトンネルのすぐ手前に10台分ほどあり200円でした。満車でしたが少し待てば入れました。ただ、待つスペースがなく、あきらめて別の場所を探す人もいました。

トンネルを抜けると、石畳が広がっています。途中、波の音が聞こえて、潮風もトンネルの中を吹き抜けています。トンネルの中には祠もあり、神秘的です。心霊スポットとしても有名みたいで、夜間に行くと女性の霊に遭遇すると言われています。潮流の関係で、祠付近に水死体が流れ着くとも言われています。一面の石畳は、壮観ですが、なみが荒くて、少し怖さもあります。

こんにちは、みなさん!今日は島根県にある、とっても不思議で美しいスポット、**石見畳ヶ浦(いわみたたみがうら)**をご紹介します!ここ、自然が作り出したアートみたいな場所で、めっちゃ感動しちゃうんですよ〜!💕 まず、この場所の一番の見どころは、海岸に広がる畳みたいな平らな岩たち!これ、実は長い年月をかけて波や風が作り出した自然の芸術なんです!見ていると「これ本当に自然が作ったの!?」って驚いちゃいますよ。✨ そして、岩の模様がユニークで、場所によって形や色がちょっとずつ違うんです。お気に入りの模様を見つけながら歩くのもめっちゃ楽しいんですよ!📸しかも、海が引いているときにだけ現れる場所なので、タイミングが合ったらぜひ見に行ってほしいです! さらに、周りには青い海と空、そして緑がいっぱいの自然が広がっていて、景色がとっても綺麗!波の音を聞きながら、のんびりお散歩するだけで心が癒やされます。夕方には夕日が海と岩をオレンジ色に染める風景も見られて、めちゃくちゃロマンチックなんですよ〜!🌅 石見畳ヶ浦は、自然の力と美しさを全身で感じられる特別な場所です!みなさんもぜひ遊びに来て、この不思議で素敵な景色を楽しんでくださいね!待ってま〜す!💕
