御本尊: 観世音菩薩 由緒: 永亀3年(1572)の春に毛利元就の菩提寺として、安芸国吉田の城内に創建され、幕末の頃に萩から現在の地へ移された。 山門と境内にある観音堂は、国の重要文化財に指定されている。 山門は、前後に控え柱のある桁行7.27m、梁間3.35mの四脚門で、屋根は切妻の桧皮(ひわだ)葺き。 この門は、大内盛見がこの場所に、応永7年(1400)頃に開基となって建てた国清寺のもので、山門も同時期のもので、その後、国清寺は大火で焼失しているが、山門は離れていたので残った。 近年解体修理され、桟瓦葺きの屋根は桧皮(ひわだ)葺きに復元されてている。 観音堂は、由緒書によると、永享2年(1430)大内持盛が現在の滝町に創建した観音寺の仏殿。 観音寺は後に勝音寺と改まり、さらに江戸時代になって、大通院と改る。 幕末には寺が衰退しこの観音堂のみが遺存していたが、朽廃がひどくなったため、大正4年に現在地に移築。 一重階裳付入母屋造りの唐様の建物で、外部下層の化粧板軒は、全国的にも例の少ない珍しいものといわれている。 奇兵隊の屯所や毛利敬親の仮寓所など明治維新の舞台ともなった洞春寺で、座禅体験もできる。 境内の様子動画→https://youtu.be/khqdu6c66d4

瑠璃光寺を訪問する際 ふらりと立ち寄ると 何と、かの有名な毛利元就公の菩提寺でした 境内は静かで、立派な本堂で ちょうど紅葉がきれいでした

今回、某女性アーティストのライブin洞春寺でお邪魔させて頂きました。 本堂に電子ピアノとギターを持ち込んでの2時間弱のライブ、斬新でした。 音響は良かったです!
