Explore the Castle Ruins of Takaoka Castle and Feel the History

Takaoka Kojyo Park is the site of Takaoka Castle, built by the second lord of the Kaga Maeda family. Built as a retirement castle in the early Edo period, this place, which still retains the features of that time, such as moats and stone walls, is a must-visit spot for history lovers. You can also enjoy the natural beauty of the four seasons in the facilities scattered throughout the vast grounds. In spring, 1,800 cherry blossoms bloom in full glory. Please come and feel the deep history of this park, which was abandoned as an unfinished castle due to the "One Castle per Province" order.
Point 2

Enjoy Seasonal Flower Viewing in a Nature-Rich Park

Takaoka Kojyo Park is a nature-rich spot where you can enjoy various flowers throughout the seasons. In spring, you can admire around 2,700 cherry blossoms, katakuri (dogtooth violet) mentioned in the Manyoshu (the oldest existing collection of Japanese poetry), and more. In summer, you can enjoy sunflowers and cosmos, and in autumn, you can appreciate beautiful autumn leaves reflected in the moat. Don't miss the 19 varieties and 1,800 cherry blossom trees, including the park's own species, "Koshino Kamozakura," which was selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Japan." There is also a free zoo where both children and adults can enjoy themselves!
Point 3

Scenery of a Moat Selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Castles

Takaoka Kojyo Park is a beautiful park with a moat selected as one of Japan's top 100 castles. The water landscape from the time of its construction remains intact, and freshwater fish such as carp and crucian carp inhabit it. It is a nationally designated historic site park where you can enjoy beautiful natural scenery throughout the four seasons, and you can also take a boat tour around the moat. It has also been selected as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots and top 100 historical parks, and admission is free, making it easy to visit. Please come and visit at least once!
Point 4

Experience a Cherry Blossom Tour with 23 Varieties and Around 2,700 Trees in Bloom

Takaoka Kojyo Park is one of Japan's leading moat parks and is also known as a cherry blossom viewing spot. In spring, around 2,700 cherry blossom trees of 23 varieties are in full bloom, creating a tunnel of beautiful flowers. The scenery is truly breathtaking! While touring the historic castle ruins built by Maeda Toshinaga of the Kaga Maeda family, you can enjoy this magnificent natural beauty. At night, you can also enjoy the fantastic night cherry blossoms lit up by lights. Please visit Takaoka Kojyo Park, a charming and unforgettable place that you won't forget once you visit.
Point 5

Takaoka Kojyo Park is a charming spot where history and nature blend together. Among them, the zoo, which is completely free, is a must-see. About 40 types of animals, such as Japanese macaques, flamingos, and rabbits, are waiting for you. You can enjoy spending time with your family against the backdrop of beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons. In addition, while you can feel the remnants of the past such as the moat and stone walls, meeting rare creatures such as penguins and flamingos is also a major attraction of this park!
