大和郡山市の観光で訪れました。夏の週末土曜日の昼に訪問。店内数組の方がおられました。暑い日でしたのでクーラーが効いているのが有難い。アイスコーヒー等も提供されています。旧家を改装した藍染体験の施設。おみやげ物も揃います。店内には色々な説明があり、この街の歴史について学ぶことができます。天井の大きな金魚のオブジェが印象的です。

2024.2.28 大和な雛まつり期間中に訪問(3/3まで) 入場無料。駐車場は近隣の有料🅿️へ 町屋物語館の後に訪問しましたが、こちらは雛飾りと金魚の吊るし飾りがありました。 藍染め工房が併設されていて体験もできるそう。 小物も可愛いものが沢山!

藍染体験ができ、金魚の美術品が見られる施設。大和郡山市所有の建物で見学は無料。想像以上の可愛い藍染めグッズが飾ってあり、また、売店では購入できる。紺屋とは染物屋のことで、「紺屋町」は藍染めを職業とする人が集まった職人町。豊臣秀吉の弟、豊臣秀長が大和郡山を治めていた時代に集まってできた町である。 この建物は、江戸時代から紺屋を営まれていた奥野家を修復再生した。染めに使われていた藍ガメや刷毛・型紙を展示。かまども復元されいる。実際に染めているところも見学、体験できるのはかなり嬉しい。 金魚の美術品は陶磁器、掛け軸、帯、装飾品、玩具まで幅広い。大和郡山の金魚の起源は、江戸中期、柳澤吉里が甲府から郡山に領地を国替えされた際、家臣が観賞用に持参したことに始まるとされる。 ちなみに箱本とは、江戸時代にできた郡山町中の自治組織のことで、紺屋町を含む13の町が治安維持、消火、伝馬などを自ら行う。税金免除の特権を与えられた。 道筋の中央には水路が通り、大和郡山を代表する景色になっている。この水はお城の堀から流れ出ており、染めた布や糸を晒していた。
