It's also the place where the architect Bruno Taut spent two years, and the setting for Akira Kurosawa's film "The German at Daruma Temple." Shorinzan Tetsujoji Temple is also famous as one of Gunma's leading power spots, and many people visit to seek the Daruma doll's good fortune. It's also known as one of the two major tourist spots in Takasaki, along with Takasaki Byakui Daikannon. 高崎駅からバスが出てますが時間帯によってかなり遠回りして行くため50分近くかかりました。御朱印は、写経と願い事を書いてしっかりお経を唱えて頂き、金額は、決まっていません。今まで御朱印を書いて頂きましたが、こんなに丁寧なのは、初めてでした。だるまの絵付け体験も何気に楽しかったです!開眼もして頂きました。お天気も良く遠くの景色も綺麗でした。バスでしたので、ながーい階段を登っていきました。御年寄りは、ちょっと大変かもしれませんね。車で行ける方は、長い階段を登らずにいけますね。

名前の通りダルマで有名な黄檗宗のお寺。手のひらサイズのものから巨大なものまで色々なダルマがあります。色も赤だけでなく様々です。御朱印をいただくためには簡単な納経が必要です。ダルマの絵付けなども体験できます。

かれこれ三百と数十年前頃、元々この地にあった観音堂に、夢のお告げで掘られた達磨大師の像が納められたのが起源だとか。 それから百数十年後、天保の大飢饉をきっかけとして達磨像をモデルに縁起だるまが造られ、現在に至るらしい。 そんな本堂の霊符堂には、願いを叶え終えて両目が開いた大量のだるまさんか大量に重ね納められ、中々に面白い風情となっている。 せっかくなので、まだ開眼していないだるまさんをお迎えしておきたいところ、そこはリーズナブルでコンパクトなサイズから拝領が可能。しっかりと背面にお札も貼られている。 ただ、手作りの貼り物はここまで小さいと結構歪んだシルエットになってしまう。とは言えこれも個性。やはり有り難い。 他には、大講堂ではだるまの絵付けといった観光客向けのイベントもあり。 ちなみに、元々この地にあったという観音堂も、明治時代の大火からも無事逃れ今も敷地内に残っている。ありがたいので是非こちらも参拝しておきたい。 なお、本堂裏手にメインの大きめな駐車場があるが、そこまでの坂道が結構急で狭く、すれ違いしずらいので注意。
