A famous shrine with giant cedar trees over 500 years old.
This is a magnificent shrine where towering old trees of Takano Maki stand side by side, and the vermilion-painted Niomon Gate, the haiden (worship hall), and the honden (main hall) stand out against the greenery of the trees. Large cedar trees and towering Takano Maki trees over 500 years old stand, and in the spring, the azaleas cover the precincts. It has the power to bring good luck, success, and wealth, so please come and receive its blessings when you visit!

At Hanazono Shrine, there is a sacred tree that is over 800 years old. Known as "Mishinboku no Sanbon Sug," the middle tree in particular is famous for its blessings of fertility, safe childbirth, and marital harmony, as it resembles a mother cedar tree with her children. In addition to the sacred tree, the approach lined with old trees and the colorful and majestic trees surrounding the main hall and worship hall are also worth seeing, creating a mystical atmosphere.

Kasen Garden Valley is a famous autumn foliage spot where you can see beautiful autumn leaves in mid-November along a 3km stretch of the valley. There are no parking lots available, so you'll need to park on the side of the road and view the foliage from your car. It's also a popular cycling course, and we recommend cycling while enjoying the autumn leaves. If you drive along the autumn foliage road, you'll come across Yosiro Falls, where you can enjoy the scenery along with the autumn leaves!

Jorenji Temple and Jorenji Valley are places you'll want to visit in conjunction with Hanazono Shrine. The highlight of Jorenji Temple is its impressive thatched roof, which is said to have been founded by Jikaku Daishi. It burned down in a fire in 1848 and was rebuilt in 1857 to become the present-day Jorenji Temple. Jorenji Valley is a valley located downstream of Hanazono River, with 33 Kannon statues scattered on the right bank, which are historical statues carved 1000 years ago. When visiting Hanazono Shrine, why not also visit Jorenji Temple and enjoy touring the temple with a thatched roof and 33 Kannon statues?

Limited-Time Illumination Event!

The limited-time illumination event, commonly known as the "Hanazono Shrine/Hanazono Mall Illumination," takes place every year from November 1st to November 30th, from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm. During the night illumination of the autumn leaves, you can stroll through the fantastic atmosphere of the shrine while enjoying the autumn leaves. The illumination ends at 8:50 pm and the lights are turned off, so if you think you might be running out of time, be sure to bring a flashlight!

Hiking Course to Visit Nanatsu Falls!

Hanazono Shrine Hiking Course to Visit Nanatsu Falls!
This is a hiking course that takes about 2 hours to visit the Hana no Miya Okunoin and Nanatsu Falls, located in the deep mountains from Hanazono Shrine! As there are some places with a slight slope and slippery footing, it is recommended to prepare hiking shoes. Nanatsu Falls consists of 7 waterfalls of various sizes, falling from a height of about 60m, creating a picturesque scenery with a unique charm. Why not visit Hanazono Shrine and go hiking as a set when you have the chance to see Nanatsu Falls?

A Majestic Shrine with Towering Old Trees
This is a majestic shrine with towering old trees, said to have been built by the Heian period general, Sakanoue no Tamuramaro. Walking along the approach from the parking lot, you'll see giant trees and the Ishizuno waterfall flowing down. Beyond the vermilion gate, you'll find the haiden (worship hall) and honden (main hall), enveloped in a beautiful and mystical atmosphere. Inside the shrine grounds, there is a sacred tree over 800 years old, said to resemble a mother who has given birth to a child, and as such, many visitors come seeking blessings for fertility and safe childbirth.
