Point 1

Experience the Power of Hakone Volcano at Owakudani

Owakudani in Hakone Town is a spectacular landscape created by volcanic activity about 3,000 years ago. Even today, it's a powerful spot where smoke and the smell of sulfur rise up. The view of white smoke and vast scenery from an altitude of 1,044 meters is breathtaking, and on the nature study path, you can feel the volcanic gas up close. You can also enjoy the famous black eggs and limited souvenirs. However, it's also a place where you need to be careful about your health.
Point 2

Experience the Delicious Specialty "Black Eggs"

The specialty "black eggs" are cooked using the geothermal and chemical reactions produced by the volcanic activity of Owakudani. The jet-black shell is due to the iron sulfide, and although it may look like a regular egg at first glance, you'll be sure to be surprised by the difference in taste once you try it! The umami component is about 20% higher than that of a normal egg, and it's also expected to have health benefits. It's even said that eating one can extend your lifespan by 7 years. When visiting Owakudani, be sure to experience this exquisite gourmet dish.
Point 3

Nature Walk on the Nature Study Trail

At Owakudani's Nature Study Trail, you can enjoy a walk along with the magnificent scenery created by volcanic activity. Just walking the approximately 700-meter course for 40 minutes, you can experience the sulfur smell, white smoke rising from the fumarole, and rare alpine plants with all five senses. You can also enjoy the famous black eggs! However, please visit with a plan as it requires advance reservations.
Point 4

Original Goods from Owakudani Kurotamago-kan

At Owakudani Kurotamago-kan, you can find original goods such as mugs and T-shirts featuring the motif of the black egg, making them perfect as souvenirs of your visit. The hot spring and egg extract skin mask is also a popular item. In addition, limited edition goods such as Jigokudani Curry and Owakudani Black Chocolate are also available for purchase. Be sure to stop by when you visit!
Point 5

A Unique Space Filled with the Smell of Smoke and Sulfur

Owakudani in Hakone Town is a unique space born from volcanic activity. The smell of smoke and sulfur spreads throughout, and you can feel volcanic gas at powerful fumaroles and on the natural research path. You can also enjoy the famous gourmet food, black eggs. However, it's a place where you need to be careful about your health. Why not refresh your mind and body while feeling the power of nature?
