長谷寺は十一面観世音菩薩がご本尊である鎌倉有数の古刹です。実際に参拝すると観音様のお姿の大きさにびっくりします。そして又花の寺としても有名で四季を通じて美しい花々を楽しめます。特に「あじさい」は有名ですが早春の梅も又美しいものです。開花状況は長谷寺さんのホームページで確認出来ます。本堂へ続く階段を登りきると鎌倉の海を見渡せる見晴台もあって来る度に清々しい気持ちになります。時間があれば観音様についてより深く学べる「観音ミュージアム(有料)」や見晴らしの良いお食事処やカフェなどもありますので立ち寄ってみてはいかがでしょうか。春と秋の2回「長谷の市」も開催され鎌倉ビール等が楽しめる露店も出店されます。

久々に訪れました。下から見上げるご本尊の十一面観音は巨大で荘厳。私の中では鎌倉の仏像と言えば大仏様よりこちらを思い浮かべます。 冬場に訪れたのは初めてですが、花の寺だけあって水仙やロウバイの花が迎えてくれました。 紫陽花の岡から眺める海も見事でしたし、和み地蔵に癒されるなどいつ訪れても心が洗われます。

長谷寺の門をくぐると、すぐに池が広がっていました。2月の寒い日でしたが、木々には花が咲き、錦鯉が優雅に泳ぎ、とても艶やかな光景でした。 そして、何とも優しい表情の観音様に心が癒され、ここでは何でも正直に話し、心を解き放ちたくなるような気持ちになりました。そんな思いを胸に、今の願いを観音様に伝えながらお参りをしました。 その後、木々や花々に癒されながら山を登り、鎌倉の街並みや相模湾の広大で美しい景色を楽しみました。しばらく眺めた後、もう一度観音様のお顔を拝見したくなり、本殿へ戻り再びお参りしました。 さらに、洞窟へと進み、ロウソクの火を頼りに仏様をお参りしました。牡蠣の殻に願い事を書いて奉納する場所があり、また、おそらく観音様をお守りする仏様にも手を合わせました。 これまで訪れたお寺とは異なり、長谷寺は深い母性を感じる特別な場所でした。
