Features & How to Enjoy

Highlights

Point 1

Zoorasia is Known for its Okapi

Yokohama Zoological Gardens Zoorasia Zoorasia is Known for its Okapi
Zoorasia was the first place in Japan to publicly display an Okapi, and since its debut in 1999, it has become the most popular animal in the park. Among the animal goods sold at the park's shops, Okapi goods are particularly popular! Don't miss out on the limited edition Zoorasia Okapi bus-shaped candy container, or the "Okapi" version of the world's smallest block toy, "nanoblock," which can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.
Point 2

Experience Interaction with Animals

At the "Paka Paka Square" inside the park, there are plenty of events such as feeding and horse-drawn carriage experiences. Horse events are held every day with the "Breakfast Event" in the morning and the "Feeding Experience" in the afternoon. Both end as soon as the carrots run out, so if you're interested, be sure to come early! The "Horse-drawn Carriage Experience," where you can experience horse riding, is also held every day, but it's also popular and ends when the capacity is reached. The park is very large, so it takes time to move around, so we recommend planning ahead. Inside the square, the "Guinea Pig and Mouse House" allows you to interact with guinea pigs and panda mice for 10 minutes, which is popular among young children.
Point 3

Feel Like You're Traveling the World with a Variety of Options

Near the main gate, in the "Asian Tropical Rainforest Zone," there is a Freshness Burger Jungle Cafe, and in the "Oceania Grassland Zone," there is a 200-seat Aussie Hill Grill Restaurant, which is popular for its Hamapork Ginger Pork Set, made with Yokohama brand pork. In addition, the "Savannah Terrace" in the "African Savannah Zone" offers a menu that allows you to experience the African savannah, including African cuisine such as Muamba Rice and East African representative dish Mshikaki (beef skewers).
Point 4

Play on Playground Equipment Shaped Like Okapi

There is also a park with playground equipment inside the zoo that is popular with young children. The Okapi-shaped playground equipment at Zoorasia is a spot where you'll want to take commemorative photos. It's located in the "Exciting Plaza" between the "Amazon Jungle" zone and the "African Rainforest" zone. In addition, there are many other areas in the park, such as the "Savannah Playground" with large playground equipment, the "Rolling Plaza" with sculptures of giraffes, elephants, and turtles, and the "Everyone's Field" located near the exit. It's a great point that there are spots for children to play in between touring the park.
Point 5

Travel by Okapi-shaped Bus

The park offers an Okapi-shaped shuttle bus called the "Zuppi-go" which runs directly from the "Elephant Stop" near the main gate to the "North Gate Stop". The fare is 200 yen for adults (junior high school students and above) and 100 yen for elementary school students. The North Gate Stop is located very close to the "African Savannah" zone, so if you are looking for a particular animal in the African zone, taking the bus is convenient. It's recommended to move early to avoid congestion during the opening and closing hours.

Access

Access by Bus from the Three Nearest Stations
The nearest stations are the Sagami Railway's Tsurugamine Station, Mitsukyo Station, and the JR Yokohama Line and Municipal Subway's Nakayama Station. From each station, you can arrive in about 15 minutes by taking the bus bound for "Yokohama Zoo". However, please note that there are few buses from Yokohama Station on the JR Tokaido Line, JR Yokosuka Line, JR Keihin-Tohoku Line, Keikyu Line, Tokyu Toyoko Line, Minato Mirai Line, Sagami Railway Line, and Yokohama Municipal Subway Line, and it takes about an hour to get there by bus. If you are coming by car, it takes about 15 minutes from the Tomei Expressway "Yokohama Machida IC", about 5 minutes from the Hodogaya Bypass "Shimokawai IC", and about 20 minutes from the Dai-san Keihin "Kohoku IC".

Fee

Saturday is Free for High School Students and Younger!

Every Saturday, elementary, junior high, and high school students can enter for free by presenting their student ID. A common annual passport is also available for sale with Kanazawa Zoo in Yokohama, allowing entry to both Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia and Kanazawa Zoo. It's recommended for those who visit the zoo frequently, as it's valid for one year for those 18 years and older at a cost of 2,000 yen.
