Highlights

Point 1

Numerous Instagrammable Spots! Showa Retro Atmosphere Inside the Building

Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum Numerous Instagrammable Spots! Showa Retro Atmosphere Inside the Building
On the B1 to B2 floors, a Showa retro atmosphere can be enjoyed with a reproduction of the townscape from the 1950s. In addition to ramen shops, there is a cafe & sunakku "Kateko," where you can enjoy retro sweets and karaoke (for a fee), and a dagashiya "Yuyake Shoten," where nostalgic candy and toys such as mizuame and dagashi are lined up. Adults will feel nostalgic and small children will be excited by the expanding space. There are spots for fortune-telling and other interesting places besides ramen. It's a museum where you can enjoy walking around the building and taking photos.
Point 2

Gathering of Ramen Shops from Across the Country

Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum Gathering of Ramen Shops from Across the Country
The "Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum" has the concept of "being able to go eat ramen from all over the country without getting on a plane." Carefully selected famous shops from all over the country are gathered, and each shop's ramen has its own unique taste and style, allowing you to enjoy the particularities of each shop. Children's dishes and chairs are available at all shops, so families with children can also enjoy themselves with peace of mind. So far, about 50 shops have opened, and there are also limited-time shops as part of the planned shops, making it a point to visit again and again to enjoy numerous ramen shops. In addition, all shops offer mini-ramen, which is about 3/5 the size of a regular bowl, so you can also enjoy eating while walking around. It can get crowded around lunchtime, but weekdays after 2pm and weekends after 4pm are relatively good times to visit. You can check the waiting time for each shop on their website, etc.
Point 3

Experience the History and Culture of Ramen

On the first floor gallery, you can learn about the history and culture of ramen, from the Muromachi period to the present day, with exhibits such as a reproduction of the ramen that sparked the Japanese ramen boom, "Rairaiken," and a map of local ramen. The "Donburi Collection" displays 380 bowls from famous ramen shops across the country, and the "Ramen Book Wall" showcases about 1,000 carefully selected books on ramen. It's impressive! You can also experience the process of lifting the noodles using a Tebo and Hira-Zaru, which are actually used in ramen shops, and there's even a "Char Siu and Octopus Thread Rolling Experience Corner" where you can have a valuable experience.
Point 4

Experience Making Ramen!

Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum Experience Making Ramen!
On the first floor, you can experience making ramen and learn how ramen noodles are made from wheat flour. From making the dough to using a long bamboo pole to stretch the noodle dough in a method called "seichiku-uchi," which makes the dough thin, to cutting the noodles with a special knife, you can taste freshly made ramen on the spot. You can also take the noodles you made home with you. Reservations are required, and there is a separate fee in addition to the admission fee. This experience is available for elementary school students and above, and children in grades 1 to 3 can participate with a guardian.
Point 5

Enjoy the Nostalgic Kamishibai (Paper Theater) Performances

Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum Enjoy the Nostalgic Kamishibai (Paper Theater) Performances
At Tsurukame Park on the basement floor, you can enjoy kamishibai (paper theater) performances by a kamishibaiya (paper theater performer), which is a rare sight nowadays. In addition to kamishibai, there are also street performances such as magic, juggling, balloons, Showa-era songs, and pantomime. There are also quiz events held during spring break and other times, providing entertainment for both children and adults. There are plenty of elements to enjoy besides ramen!
