The Ashikaga Orihime Shrine was established to enshrine two gods, Tenmihokomemori, who presides over weaving, and Tenyachitomekami, the goddess of weaving, in this area, which has been prosperous in weaving since ancient times. Recently, the shrine has also become known as a matchmaking shrine, based on the idea that weaving involves weaving warp and weft threads together.

Every year on January 1st, Ashikaga Orihime Shrine holds a festival called "Saidan-sai". This festival is held to pray for happiness in the new year and to offer gratitude to Orihime-sama. It includes dedicatory performances by the shrine priests and purification rituals. Additionally, the Grand Festival is held on May 5th and November 3rd every year. Inside the shrine grounds, there are shops selling matcha and Japanese sweets, and the Kagura dance performed on the shrine grounds is one of the highlights. On the shrine grounds, there are ancient trees that have remained since the shrine's establishment about 800 years ago, and natural forests spread around them. There is a mountain called "Tengu Mountain" in the surrounding area, and a course of about 5.0 km in length and about 2 hours and 45 minutes in duration has been developed, allowing you to enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding scenery. Especially during the autumn foliage season, the colorful scenery is breathtaking, so it's recommended to bring a camera along for your hiking trip!

Ashikaga Orihime Shrine is a shrine located on Nishi-Odori in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, and is dedicated to the guardian god of the textile industry in Ashikaga. The Tanabata festival at Ashikaga Orihime Shrine boasts one of the largest scales in Japan. Colorful bamboo decorations are set up both inside and outside the shrine during the Tanabata decoration period, which takes place around July 7th. Many visitors tie their wishes to the bamboo decorations and write their wishes on strips of paper. At night, the decorations are illuminated with lights, creating a fantastic atmosphere. 栃木県足利市にある足利織姫神社は、高台にあり縁結びで有名な神社だそうです。下から階段で229段登ると、高台の中腹にある足利織姫神社の本殿に辿り着きます。神社の境内には愛の鐘という鐘があり、高台のせいか足利市内を一望出来ます。帰路は珍しい七色の鳥居をくぐり抜ける周回コ―スが参拝者を楽しませてくれます。

足利織姫神社にお伺いさせていただきました。 東武伊勢崎線の足利市駅、JR両毛線の足利駅からですと徒歩30分近くかかります。 それ意外だと自動車か市内巡回のバスがあります。 創建は1705年で足利氏が作ったわけではありません。 第一鳥居の前からとにかく華やか、艶やかといった赴きですね。 この第一鳥居から拝殿までの石段(男坂)は229段ありますのでキツい方は横の七色鳥居がある女坂か自動車をおすすめします。 女坂の方も基本的に階段なのですが、傾斜が緩やかなので男坂よりは多少楽です。 それだけ登ったので眺めは素晴らしいですね! 足利市が一望出来ますよ。 拝殿や欄干なども赤色が基調となっていて、この神社にとても合っていますね。 あと、こちらは縁結びで有名でカップル、女性のグループが沢山いらっしゃいました。 境内にも愛の鐘などそれに因んだ物も幾つかありました。 私は基本1人行動が多いのですが、今回は連れ合いと一緒でした(笑) この日私が見る限りお一人様は居なかった感じですね… まぁ、1人が駄目なわけではありませんが… 先ほども説明した女坂には七色の鳥居がありまして、色によってそれぞれ違う御利益の縁結びになっています。 上りでも下りでも是非通って下さい! 社務所では御朱印を拝受出来ます。 直書きの御朱印を拝受しました。 また、私は昼間お伺いしましたがライトアップが綺麗らしいので、夜も良いかも知れませんね。

2025年1月の週末に参拝。 正面の鳥居手前の信号がある交差点横に無料の駐車場があり、アクセスしやすいです。 鳥居から境内まで階段が続きます。そこまで長い階段ではありませんが、厳しそうな場合は、左手にある七色?の鳥居が連なる階段の方がなだらかな気がします。 境内は高台にあり、市内を見渡すことができます。拝殿に向かって左手に社務所があり、授与品や御朱印を頂くことができます。
