人気の道の駅、日光の真裏に鎮座するこちらの神社には、二宮尊徳が祀られており、本殿の奥に尊徳さんが眠られています。 境内にはさまざまな仕掛けがありますので探してはいかがでしょう

御祭神は二宮尊徳公。配祀として二宮尊行(尊徳公嫡子)・冨田高慶公(尊徳高弟)。最晩年の嘉永6(1853)年、幕府の命で日光神領八十九村の復興に取り組んだ尊徳公だったが、安政3(1856)年70歳の時、道半ばにして今市の報徳役所にて逝去す。葬列は役所から如来寺まで大通りを埋めるほどの大勢の参列者が並びました。死を悟った尊徳公は「我を葬るに分を越ゆること勿れ。墓石を立つること勿れ。碑を建つること勿れ。只々土を盛り上げてその傍らに松か杉を一本植え置けばそれにて可なり。必ず我が言に違ふ勿れ」と。はじめはその遺言どおり墓は建てられませんでしたが、弟子達の建議が起り未亡人の意思を伺って三年後に墓碑が建てられ、明治31年御祭神を奉斎創建。同33年県社列格。ちなみに、数年前に茨城県水戸市の森林公園内の同名社に参拝したことがありますが、ついに勧請元の当社に参拝出来たこと、感無量なのです。 尊徳来福像の尊徳像奉納投げや、ペット長寿祈願、鳩の餌やり(一袋50円で買えます。鳩たちが非常に期待している様子です)。尊徳公の遺物を収めた宝物館、卓球場もあるようで、参拝者を楽しませようとする工夫が随所に感じられる、地域住民に愛される神社であらせられます。参拝当日は雨が降ったりやんだりで、ねこ達に逢えなかったのだけが心残りです。鳴き声だけは遠くから聞こえていましたが。
