From late January to early March, the Kamakura Festival is held in Yunosawa Onsen. During this festival, around 1,200 mini-kamakura (igloos) are built, with candles lit inside. The flickering light of the candles in the mini-kamakura creates a mystical and fantastical atmosphere. In addition, food stalls and souvenir shops are set up during the festival period, adding to the charm. Walking on the boardwalk and trekking while feeling the mist from the waterfall is full of exhilaration. Depending on the season, the autumn foliage and fresh greenery are also beautiful, allowing you to feel the beauty of nature. However, part of the trail involves walking on rocky terrain, so it is recommended to wear appropriate clothing and shoes!

Enjoy Trekking on Mount Mae and Experience the Nature of Yunishigawa

There are many nature-rich walking trails around Yunishigawa Onsen. Among them, we recommend the Mount Mae trekking course. Mount Mae is located in front of Yunishigawa Onsen and has an altitude of 1001 meters. From the summit, you can see the Nikko Mountains, Nasu Mountains, and Mount Tsukuba. The trekking course has two routes: one takes about 1 hour on foot from Yunishigawa Onsen to the summit, and the other takes about 3 hours. Along the way, you'll see beautiful nature, such as waterfalls, streams, and tree tunnels. In particular, walking along the stream in Yunishigawa Valley provides a pleasant trekking experience with a refreshing breeze and the sound of flowing water. From the summit, you can enjoy a 60-degree panoramic view. In particular, during the autumn foliage season, you can enjoy a colorful view. For those confident in their physical strength, there is also a course to descend from the summit to Yunishigawa Onsen town. Bring sturdy shoes, clothes, drinks, and snacks, and enjoy trekking to feel the nature. After descending, let's heal your fatigue in the hot springs!

Yunishigawa Onsen has many open-air baths and private baths with hot springs flowing directly from the source, allowing you to enjoy various types of hot springs. In addition, there are nearby tourist spots such as Kinugawa Onsen, Chuzenji Lake, and the city center of Nikko, so there is no shortage of sightseeing spots. Furthermore, there are plenty of hiking trails around Yunishigawa Onsen, allowing you to enjoy nature to the fullest. The dish "Ko no Hei Taka Kari Yaki" using an irori fireplace is famous and can be enjoyed at inns and nearby restaurants. It has become a nationally famous hot springs town, and you can spend a relaxing time whether you stay overnight or visit for a day trip.

線路🛤️は地下にあり⤵ 道の駅と併設。連休明けの平日だが宿泊帰りのお客さんが結構いた。このように電車🚃プラスバス🚌が充実してるのはありがたいね。

初訪問でしたがここは非常に面白い場所です。「鉄道の駅」と「道の駅」が併設。更には日帰り温泉入浴施設まであります。また、水陸両用車両によるミニツアーの発着場所もあります。 結果、単なる休憩だけではなく食事、入浴、買い物、等々も含めた一通りの観光が出来ます。加えて何といっても此方の鉄道駅は所謂トンネル駅であり特殊性が顕著です。それ故ここだけでも訪れる価値はあります。因みに某有名検索サイトで「山岳トンネル内に駅ホームのある通年営業の旅客駅」として「土合駅」「湯檜曽駅」「筒石駅」「美佐島駅」「湯西川温泉駅」計5駅が紹介されております。一見マニアックな駅ばかりですが、その中でも此方の湯西川温泉駅は非常に施設の整った広く一般観光客受けする良好な駅かと思います。

地上からエレベーターまたは階段で地下へ降りるとトンネル内のホームがあります。 冷んやりしてて気持ちが良いです。 会津側は光が見えて湯西川湖を渡る橋梁が見えます。
