Taifusan Shrine is a popular tourist spot loved by locals as well.

車で拝殿のあるところまで行けますが、下から参道を上がってくるのも一興です。 国学院高校を過ぎると六角堂で有名な連祥院が見えてきて太平山神社の鳥居があります。ここから階段道が続いて緩やかな坂を登ります。途中に銭洗弁天社があります。お参りをして上へ登っていきます。青銅鳥居をくぐると坂が少し急になって階段になります。隋神門が見えるところから拝殿までは1,000段くらいあります。 規則正しい階段なのでそんなに負担もなく登れます。 参道両側は紫陽花の株がずっと繋がっていて紫陽花の時期は景色が変わるんだろうなと思いつつ登りました。 拝殿の横に交通安全社、福神社が並んでいてまだいくつかの神社があります。 上からの景色は良いものですが、あいにく霞がかかっていてクリアではなかったです。

栃木県南部を代表する山の一つ太平山。 その太平山の山頂近くに立つのが慈覚大師円仁(じかくだいし えんにん)が827年に創建したもうすぐ創建1200年を迎える大平山神社。 現在の社殿は300年ほど前のものだそうです。 社内が古式ゆかしく落ち着いていて非常にきれいな神社です。 惣社(そうじゃ)というわけではないのかもしれませんが主祭神のほかにも様々な神様が祀られており、ここを訪れると様々なご利益を受けられること間違いなしですよ! 近くには上杉謙信が「陸の松島」と絶賛した謙信平もあり、卵焼きと焼き鳥が名物の茶店が軒を連ねます。 春には桜、夏の紫陽花と太平山とともに市民に広く愛されている神社です。

日の出も見れますが、結構木があるのでお参りのついでかな? 三が日や桜の時期などは一方通行になり、謙信平とは逆の錦着山側から登る事になるので要注意。
