Dekuryu-san Manganji Experience Waterfall Training and Zazen Meditation!
At Shukubo Manganji Temple, as part of training and purification, there is a waterfall training where you immerse yourself in a river in the mountains in the middle of winter and bathe in cold water. As part of the mountain priest training, the monks take part in waterfall training to purify themselves, and recently, it has become more common for not only monks but also general applicants and corporate training programs to incorporate waterfall training. Zazen meditation can also be experienced at Shukubo Manganji Temple. Zazen is performed by sitting in the correct posture, regulating your breathing, and quieting your mind. Zen is said to have various effects such as relaxation of the mind and body, stress relief, and improvement of concentration. As reservations are required during the event period, we recommend checking the official website. The precincts of Shutsuryuzan Manganji Temple preserve a lot of nature, and in the inner sanctuary, there is a limestone cave. In this cave, an Eleven-Faced Kannon Bodhisattva made of stalactites is enshrined, and it is said to have the power to bless children and assist in child-rearing. The temperature inside the cave remains constant throughout the year, so you can pray in a cool environment even in summer or winter.
