【栃木県宇都宮市‐宇都宮城址】 平成20年(2008年)、一番最初に宇都宮市を訪れた時も訪問した宇都宮城址。戊辰戦争、宇都宮城の戦い、大鳥圭介や新選組の土方歳三などが率いる旧幕府軍と新政府軍の戦いで焼失。先の大戦後に都市開発が進んだため、城の遺構は殆ど残っていません。 本丸の一部の土塁が現存し、富士見櫓などが復元。 公園として整備され、芝生には周辺住民の憩いの場ともなっています。 ※NikonのフラッグシップミラーレスカメラZ9 使用レンズはF2.8 24‐70㎜の広角ズームレンズ

10月中旬連休最後の月曜日の10時半ごろに伺いました。こちらの口コミで無料駐車場を知り、ラスト1台で停めることが出来ました(公園の南側です)。 資料館も含めてすべて無料で、ゆっくり拝見しました。とても感じの良い公園で、正直お城としては…とは思いますが、観光客が訪れる価値はまずまずあると思います。その日はボランティアガイドの方もおられて、10分程の歴史の動画と共に面白いお話もいくつかきけて良かったです。ありがとうございました。

宇都宮城は古く11世紀頃つくられ、江戸時代に譜代大名の居城となり、戊辰戦争で建物の大半が焼失したそうですが、本丸の一部(西側の一辺の堀と土塁)を復元したものだそうです。その土塁は高く頑丈そうな立派なものとなっています。また、その土塁の中に「ものしり館」なるものがあって模型等が展示され、係の人に丁寧に説明をしてもらいました。土塁の上にはそこからエレベーターでも行くことができます。
