The younger brother of the sun goddess Amaterasu, Susanoo, and his wife Kushiinada-hime, as well as their descendants, are enshrined here. History

A Shrine with Over 1000 Years of History
Akasaka Hikawa Shrine is a shrine with over 1000 years of history. Founded by Tokugawa Yoshimune, one of the eight shoguns of the Tokugawa family, the shrine has survived numerous earthquakes and wars, and still stands today. The torii gates and guardian dogs on the shrine grounds are adorned with many of the year names from the Edo period, adding to the charm of feeling the historical atmosphere in the heart of Akasaka. Let's visit this shrine full of attractions, including the main hall, which has been designated as a tangible cultural property.
