Highlights

Point 1

Experience the Charm of Taisho Roman in a Wooden Building

Former Asakura Family Residence Experience the Charm of Taisho Roman in a Wooden Building
The Former Asakura Family Residence is a historic two-story wooden building built in 1919, with almost all rooms covered in tatami mats, a tiled roof, and exterior walls made of wooden boards and partially coated in plaster. The beautiful building exudes the charm of Taisho Roman, and features a stroll-style garden where you can enjoy elegant views that you wouldn't expect in the heart of trendy Daikanyama. This is a must-see spot for architecture fans and history buffs.
Point 2

Strolling Through the Circular Garden of the Former Asakura Residence

Former Asakura Family Residence Strolling Through the Circular Garden of the Former Asakura Residence
The former Asakura Residence boasts a circular garden that feels like a natural mountainous area rather than the city center. Walking through the circular garden with its stone lanterns, you can immerse yourself in a natural atmosphere. It's also recommended to enjoy a moment of healing while gazing at the garden from the historic and charming residence. As there are differences in elevation within the garden, it's best to wear comfortable shoes when strolling through it.
Point 3

Enjoy Autumn Leaves at the Former Asakura Family Residence

Enjoy Autumn Leaves at the Former Asakura Family Residence
The Former Asakura Family Residence is one of the best autumn leaf spots in the Daikanyama area. The stroll-style garden is enjoyable even during normal times, but in autumn, you can appreciate an even more colorful and beautiful scenery. As it's located in the city center, the best time to see the autumn leaves is relatively late, from late November to mid-December every year. The photogenic autumn garden is also recommended as a photo spot.
Point 4

Explore the Interior of the Building, Each Room with its Own Design

Former Asakura Family Residence Explore the Interior of the Building, Each Room with its Own Design
The Former Asakura Family Residence, which exudes a Taisho romantic atmosphere, does not have rooms with the same design. There are rooms with Japanese-style designs such as a hallway with wooden panels and a tatami-floored room, as well as rooms with modern designs such as a study-style room and a Western-style room. In addition, there are spots inside the building where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire property through large, open windows, so be sure to visit them.
Point 5

Recommended for a Date in Daikanyama!

Former Asakura Family Residence Recommended for a Date in Daikanyama!
The Former Asakura Family Residence is a recommended spot for a date in Daikanyama. The retro and charming atmosphere is a refreshing change from the modern buildings and trendy cafes in the surrounding area, providing a sense of non-everyday life. Near the Former Asakura Family Residence, there are many attractive commercial facilities and stores such as "Daikanyama Tsutaya Books" and "Hillside Terrace" in Daikanyama, where you can enjoy both Japanese and modern styles on your date.

Conveniently Located in the Heart of Daikanyama
The Former Asakura Family Residence is located behind the popular spot in Daikanyama, "Hillside Terrace". It's about a 5-minute walk from the nearest station, Tokyu Toyoko Line "Daikanyama Station". If you use the Hachiko bus that circulates in Shibuya Ward, it's about a 3-minute walk from the "Daikanyama" bus stop.
