医療系の仕事をしているので、前から行ってみたいと思っていた場所。学生とか外国人とかで結構人が入ってました。最近は滅多にみられなくなった寄生虫の模型がたくさん並んでいて中間宿主や感染経路の説明もわかりやすい。蟯虫検査さえ今は陽性者ゼロ、すっかり世の中からいなくなりました。

週末土曜日の午後に訪問しました。無料で観覧できます。 待ち時間はないですが館内は混雑していました。外国の方やデート中のカップルが多い印象です。 館内は広くないですが寄生虫の標本などがたくさん展示されています。パネルで寄生虫の種類や生態を知ることができます。 2階の奥がミュージアムショップに、なっていてグッズはショーケースに入っています。係の人にお願いすると現物を見せて頂けます。

1953年開館の私立博物館ですが、寄付金などで運営しており、入場無料です。 昔は知る人ぞ知るマニアックな場所でしたが、ちょっと気持ちの悪いものを面白く感じる若者が多いようで、盛況です。 多くの標本とわかりやすい説明パネルがあり、オリジナルグッズ販売もあります。 身近に怖い寄生虫がたくさんいることや、世界には寄生虫による病気で苦しんでいる人が大勢いることなどを理解できるので、初めは面白がっていた若者も、最後は真面目な態度になるようです。
