Shinkurayama Asama Park is famous for its stunning views of Mt. Fuji, cherry blossoms, and the five-story pagoda all at once! The newly renovated observation deck, which opened in February of R4, offers a 360-degree panoramic view. The scenery changes depending on the time of day, such as the sunrise, sunset, and the fantastic night view at night. It's definitely worth seeing!

The best time to visit Shinkurayama Asama Park is undoubtedly during the cherry blossom season in spring, but you can also enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the year. Especially recommended are the autumn foliage and winter snowscapes, where you can take in the collaboration of Mt. Fuji, the five-story pagoda, and the autumn leaves, or the fantastic view of a world dyed in silver. Because it doesn't snow around Mt. Every year in early April, the "Cherry Blossom Festival" is held, and many food stalls, kitchen cars, and tourist information booths are set up around the base of the five-story pagoda. There are also events featuring local gourmet food and music, creating a lively and bustling atmosphere! However, as tourists from all over the world visit, it can get quite crowded. It may be necessary to plan ahead, such as visiting on weekdays, to avoid the crowds.

Visit Shinkurayama Fuji Asama Shrine!

In the park, there is the Shinkurayama Fuji Asama Shrine, which enshrines the god of Mount Fuji, Princess Konohanasakuya-no-mikoto. It's a must-visit spot where you can receive various blessings, such as warding off disasters, finding good relationships, passing exams, safe childbirth, and harmonious family life. The precincts are beautifully maintained, with highlights such as a stone-paved approach and a large tree known as the "parenting god tree". The spot where you can see Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms through the bright red torii gate is a must-see.

Popular as a Hiking Course!

The "Observation Deck" where you can see a spectacular view is located on a hill with an elevation difference of 72 meters, so you will need to climb either the 398 steps of the "Sakuya Hime Stairs" or another sloping road. Both are quite good exercise, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes! At the top of the climb, the best view awaits you. There is also a hiking course on Mt. Arakura in the back of the park, and many people enjoy hiking along with sightseeing.

The Chureito Pagoda, Illuminated Every Day!

The five-story pagoda, which is the symbol of this park, is called the "Chureito Pagoda" and was originally built to console the war dead from World War II. Every evening, the Chureito Pagoda is illuminated, allowing you to see its beautiful appearance lit up by the light. The start time of the illumination varies depending on the season, and it is lit up from around sunset to 22:00. The beautiful night view of Mt. Fuji, which has been certified as one of the "Three Great Night Views of Mt. Fuji," is definitely worth seeing!

To reach the observation deck at Shinkurayama Asama Park, you need to climb 398 steps. It takes about 15-20 minutes to climb the stairs, so considering the time to enjoy the view and visit the shrine, you will probably stay for about 1-1.5 hours. However, on weekends, holidays, during cherry blossom season, and at the end of the year, there are long lines to climb the observation deck. It's common to wait for 30 minutes to an hour or more, so please be aware that on crowded days, it will take additional time for the time spent waiting in line.
