History

The History of Wakita Onsen, Flowing Since the Nara Period
Wakita Onsen is a quiet hot spring resort located in Miyawaka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It has been flowing since the Nara period and is known as a treasure trove of both history and healing. Originally named Wakuta, it came to be called Wakita because it referred to the place where the hot spring flowed. It is said that Otomo no Tabito bathed here during the Tenpyo era, and the name of the hot spring is also recorded in the Chikuzen Province Continuation Topography of the Edo period. The gentle atmosphere and rich hot springs enchant visitors and bring healing to both mind and body.

Access

Access to Wakita Onsen
Access to Wakita Onsen is as follows. If using public transportation, take the JR Sanyo Shinkansen to Hakata Station and transfer to a bus bound for Nogata. After about a 40-minute bus ride, you will arrive at Wakita Onsen. If traveling by car, take the Kyushu Expressway and arrive at Wakita Onsen in about 15 minutes from the Wakamiya IC. It takes about 25 minutes from the Fukuoka IC. From Fukuoka City, you can reach Wakita Onsen by car in about 40 minutes. Please use these access methods to visit Wakita Onsen.

2025.1.27〜28 15:30着。中居さんが部屋に案内してくれて、貸切風呂の予約をしようとしたが18:00台と21:00台しか空いてなかった。埋まるのが早い。 部屋は綺麗だし、中居さん達の接客もベテランという感じで、老舗の旅館らしい雰囲気。最近は何処の旅館やホテルも外国人スタッフやアルバイトの高校生などがいたりするが(外国人の方の接客も頑張っていて素敵なのだが)雰囲気に合っている。 料理は見た目の華やかさはあまりなく、最初ちょっとガッカリしたのだが、食べてみると既製品感がなく、しっかりとした仕事がなされていて、本当に美味しかった。凄く良かった。 中学卒業の時に友達と三人で卒業旅行で訪れてからの27年ぶりの再訪。 凄く癒されました。 帰りは雪の中、中居さんがお見送りしてくれました。

家族の集まりでよく利用させてもらってます。お食事、お湯、部屋、スタッフのサービス とても行き届いたいい宿です。 特に、露天風呂付きのお部屋は、なかなか予約が取れませんが、広々としてとてもくつろげるいいお部屋です。 また、伺います。

旅館のイメージを体現したようなお宿です。 接客も気持ちがよいもので、お食事も非常においしかったです。 泊まった日が雨だったせいではありますが、露天風呂までの道なりが危なく感じたこと、部屋から近い大浴場は湯の種類が少ないことが少し残念でしたかね。 でもあえて言うならと言った話であって、人にオススメできるいい宿だと思います。
