がんじゃく城。 平清盛が大庭景親に築かせた。 その後大友、大内氏の争奪となり、戦国期1587年には秋月種実配下、飯田悪六兵衛と熊井越中守久重が在城。 同年豊臣方蒲生氏郷、前田利家らの猛攻で1日で落城。 1600年細川忠興が豊前入部で支城として飯河豊前と長岡肥後が入城、その後的場氏入場後一国一城令により廃城。 添田公園より登りました。 登山道はよく整備され奥の院の先に城跡柱穴があり、岩石山山頂が櫓跡といわれ南側に本丸、本丸には石積の石や中央の窪んだあたりに虎口あり。 山頂の東側には馬場跡で石積が見られる。 馬場跡から標識どうり南に下ると古井戸あります。

岩石山(がんじゃくざん)、登山や巨石巡りとしてはとても面白く整備され訪れる価値ありです!城跡としては何処に何があったのか全く不明。駐車場は添田公園に停め、変化と起伏に富む奥の院コースがオススメです(滝コースはやや迫力不足)頂上からの展望はとても良く様々な山を確認する事が出来ます!

定期的にお勤めで登る方がいらっしゃる からであろう、登山道が良く整備されて おり、非常にいい感じの道になっている。 奥の院、頂上、国見岩からの眺めも秀逸 で、遠くに英彦山を拝むことができる。 地元の方々にも人気がある山のようだ。 麓の公園と合わせて、このエリア一体が 非常にいい雰囲気を持っていると感じた。
