以前から訪れたかった場所の一つ。 筑豊の炭鉱王の建てた大邸宅で凄く広く豪華だと聞いていたが、実際に訪れてみると、お寺かと思わせるような大きな門や、長く続く塀に、中に入る前から圧倒された。 中に入ってみると、凝った造りや、間取りの多さ、広さに更に驚かされる。 長く続く廊下の床は畳で、天井も凝った造り。 二階に上がると、二番目の奥さん燁子(歌人 柳原白蓮)の部屋になっており、他とは違う造りや、眺望の良さに、伝右衛門の25歳離れた燁子への想いを感じるようだ。 その他、洗面所やお風呂等も時代を感じさせる物ばかりで、見てて飽きない。 庭園も広く高低差があり、小川や橋、灯籠、東屋など贅の極みを感じさせる。 母屋とはつながってない蔵の一つは、歌人 白蓮の半生が展示されており、その波乱な恋に生きた白蓮の生き様を感じることが出来た。 伝右衛門とは10年程しか暮らさなかったらしいが、別れるきっかけとなったエピソードと、伝右衛門の末代まで多くを語らせなかった男気が強く心に刻まれた。 拝観し終えてみれば、その豪華な邸宅だけでなく、二人の短く儚い生活と伝右衛門の優しさ、白蓮の大胆さまでも心に残った。 駐車場は、門の前に有料駐車場があり、20台程が停められそうだ。 邸宅の中にトイレや、お土産を販売している場所がある。

2025.2.23 現在、雛のまつり(ひな祭りイベント)が開催中との事で行ってみました。 建物や庭園は素晴らしくて見る価値のあるものでしたし、飾られている様々なお雛様も、歴史ある物から、県内各地の物まで楽しめるものでした。 あと、ここが他の施設と違うのは、女流歌人白蓮の物語の舞台であり、その本物の歴史が観られる事です。 一度は訪れる価値があると思いますよ〜🎵

そんなに期待していなかったが、広い昔の邸宅を見学できたのと、2月は雛人形がかざってあった。吉原を模した一画は素晴らしかった。 ここでしか買えない和菓子が買える。帰りの空港で買うつもりが、色々買ってしまった…見学時にリュックを預かってもらえて助かった。最寄りの駅まではどこも徒歩30分かかるが、歩数を稼げるので問題なし
