The Satsuma Domain British Exchange Student Memorial Hall is a facility located near Kushikino Sunset Park, where 19 British exchange students dispatched by the Satsuma Domain stayed before departing for Britain. This memorial hall was opened in 2014 to honor the courage and achievements of Satsuma's British exchange students. On the first floor, the background and history of the exchange program are introduced, and a cafe and shop themed around Hashima and Britain are also available. On the second floor, the focus is on the students' activities after returning to Japan, and their individual life stories are presented through models and videos. This memorial hall is a historical museum that conveys the courage and achievements of the Satsuma Domain's British exchange students, who risked their lives to travel abroad. It is a place where visitors can feel the thoughts and accomplishments of the exchange students and provides an opportunity to understand the role they played in Satsuma's modernization and internationalization.
