Sada Cape Lighthouse Towering at the Tip of Sada Cape!

Sada Cape Lighthouse, located at the tip of the Sada Cape Peninsula, stands tall as a white lighthouse on the cliff. This lighthouse is known as the longest and thinnest lighthouse in Japan and is located at the westernmost point of Shikoku. On clear days, you can enjoy a distant view of Kyushu across the Toyohashi Strait. The Sata Cape promenade stretches 800 meters one way and is surrounded by subtropical plants unique to the Sata region, such as bougainvillea, sotetsu palm, and banyan trees. In particular, the sotetsu palm, which grows in clusters, has been designated as a special natural monument by the government as it is a natural habitat of sotetsu palms in Kagoshima Prefecture, and its presence is overwhelming. The North Latitude 31 Degrees Monument is a special monument located at Sata Cape. Its size is 4.7 meters in height, 5 meters in width, and 3 meters in depth. On the front of the monument, there is a world map with the words "31°LINE SATA" and "Southernmost Point of Mainland Japan, Sata Cape" engraved on it, along with the North Latitude 31 Degrees line. The parking lot is right in front of the monument, making it the perfect place for taking commemorative photos. Beyond the monument, there is a spacious view, and although it's a bit of a distance away, you can see the Sata Cape Lighthouse. This view is impressive and allows you to feel the special position of North Latitude 31 Degrees. The North Latitude 31 Degrees Monument is a popular tourist spot for those visiting Sata Cape. Sata Cape is located at the southernmost point of mainland Kyushu, facing the Osumi Strait. The cape is situated on the 31st parallel north and is characterized by a warm climate throughout the year. Access

Access from Kasanohara IC by Car Takes 1 Hour and 40 Minutes

To access Sata Cape by public transportation, first take the Tarumi Ferry from Kamoike Port. The ferry arrives at Tarumi Port in about 40 minutes. From there, transfer to the Mihara-bound bus of Sanzyu Bus and get off at the last stop, which takes about 2 hours. It's about a 10-minute drive from there. If you're using a car, take Route 269 via Kasanohara IC on the Osu Vertical Road, and it takes about 65km and approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to arrive at Sata Cape. Both methods take some time to access, but it's worth visiting to enjoy the beautiful scenery and rich nature of Sata Cape.

駐車場からトンネルを超えガジュマロやソテツが自生している遊歩道を歩いて行くと途中に神社が有り旅に安全をお願いしました。展望台へは最後の木道の上りが年寄りには足にこたえましたが何とか佐多岬展望台にたどり着けました。周りの景色はとても奇麗で写真と心の目に焼き付ける事が出来ました。行きは良い良い帰りは恐いと言われていますが帰り道もアップダウンが有りましたが小鳥が道案内してくれ何とか駐車場に帰る事が出来ました。感謝

2024.09にバイクで南九州旅行の折に伺いました。元々行く予定は無かったのですが薩摩半島の最南端に行ったのでせっかくならということで大隈半島の最南端も目指した次第です。観光案内所から遊歩道にて向かいます。道中、生えている植物や御崎神社で南国感というかジャングル感で異国情緒を感じます。そんな中、白亜の建物が凄く映え、息を呑んだ思い出です。階段下から見上げると、青空と建物の白で今までのジャングル感を一掃しました。ここから見る佐多岬灯台の眺望も素晴らしいです。なお、佐多岬灯台へは歩いて行けないようです。

大隈半島、2時間以上かけて佐多岬到着。遠いかったけど、展望台までの遊歩道も最高。展望台からの眺めは絶景で鹿児島きたら、絶対行ったほうがいい。また、駐車場の塩ソフトクリーム、めっちゃ美味い。途中の御崎神社で初詣。おみくじ大吉で、新年早々最高の気分でした。駐車場台数限られてるから、混む前に来ることおすすめします。
