The Amakusa Christian Museum is a museum in Amakusa City that focuses on Christian-related materials. There are four Christian museums in Amakusa city: the Collegio Museum, the Rosario Museum, the Minato-ya Museum, and the Amakusa Christian Museum. Each museum charges an admission fee of 1,000 yen, but by purchasing the "4 Museum Tour Ticket," you can enter for only 600 yen. The Amakusa Christian Museum displays weapons used in the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion and the Amakusa Shiro's battlefield flag, a nationally designated important cultural property. The other three museums also have their own unique exhibits. Use the tour ticket to learn about the Christian culture of the Amakusa region!

Enjoy the Christian Museum at an Affordable Price
To enjoy the second-floor exhibition room at the Amakusa Christian Museum, admission fees are required. The fees are 240 yen for adults, 160 yen for high school students, and 100 yen for elementary and junior high school students. However, admission to the museum and use of areas other than the second-floor exhibition room are free. From adults to small children, you can learn about the history of Shimabara and Amakusa at a reasonable price and have fun!

Easily Learn the History of Amakusa and Shimabara
The Amakusa City Kirishitan Museum takes about an hour to go through. It is divided into four zones: the history of Amakusa Kirishitan, the arrival of Nanban culture and the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion, the restoration of Amakusa after the rebellion and the Kirishitan faith. About 200 items are on display and explained in an easy-to-understand manner, including weapons used in the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion, the Amakusa Shirou flag, a nationally designated important cultural property, the fumi-e used during the persecution of Kirishitan, and the Maria Kannon which reminds us of the life of hidden Kirishitan. In addition, a free 30-minute video is also shown, making it easy to learn not only from the exhibits but also from the visuals!

キリシタンの歴史がわかる場所。 館内にはいろいろな資料もあり、見応え十分。 お庭もぽくて映えます。

天草へ行った際に寄りました。 丁度、団体向けにガイドさんがいて、とても丁寧な説明をしてくれました。 熊本や薩長同盟についても分かりやすく説明してくれたので、天草四郎について理解することが出来ました。 館内はこじんまりとしており、天草四郎についの動画説明が流れてます。 中の方は親切な対応です。
