Access

Convenient Access by Public Transportation and Car
Access to Yamaga Onsen is convenient by both public transportation and private car. If using public transportation, take the Kyushu Shinkansen from JR Hakata Station and arrive at JR Shin-Tamana Station in about 40 minutes. Then transfer to a Kyushu Sangyo Bus and arrive at Yamaga Bus Center in about 50 minutes. Alternatively, take the Hino-Kuni Express Bus from the Nishitetsu Tenjin Highway Bus Terminal and arrive at the Ueki IC in about 100 minutes. Then transfer to a Kyushu Sangyo Bus and arrive at Yamaga Bus Center in about 30 minutes. If traveling by car, take Prefectural Road 16 from the Kikusui IC and arrive at Yamaga Onsen in about 70 minutes, covering about 10km. Please enjoy a relaxing hot spring experience at Yamaga Onsen.

History

Discover the History and Hot Springs of Yamaga Onsen
Yamaga Onsen is a historic hot spring resort that has been around for a long time in Japan. Its discovery dates back to about 800 years ago when Uno Chikaharu, who was defeated in the Hogen Rebellion, witnessed a scene where a wounded deer was healing its wounds by bathing in the hot spring in the second year of Hogen (1157). Furthermore, the "Yunogo" hot spring village in Yamaga-gun, Higo-no-kuni, was described in the "Wamyosho" written in the fourth year of Jōhei (934) in the Heian period, indicating that it was widely known even at that time. Enjoy a hot spring trip where you can refresh your mind and body while feeling the history of Yamaga Onsen.
