Hachinohe Kannon Falls A Mysterious and Beautiful Waterfall with a Height of 41m
The Hachinohe Kannon Falls, which flows straight down from a height of 41m, is attractive with its dignified appearance and divine atmosphere. The background of the columnar joint rock face and the appearance of deep green moss growing on it are also mysterious, and just looking at the beautiful waterfall scenery created by nature can make you feel calm. It is recommended to view it from the red bridge in front of you, and if you're lucky, you may be able to see a rainbow near the waterfall basin!
Point 2

Kannon Statues with the Expectation of Safe Delivery and Good Fortune

Hachinohe Kannon Falls Kannon Statues with the Expectation of Safe Delivery and Good Fortune
In the cave on the left side of the waterfall, three Kannon statues are enshrined: "Sei Kanzeon Bosatsu," "Nyoirin Kannon Bosatsu," and "Koyasu Kannon Bosatsu." They have been worshipped as the guardian bodhisattvas of women since ancient times, and are said to provide benefits such as safe delivery, fertility, child-rearing, and good fortune. When you visit the waterfall, be sure to greet and pray to the Kannon statues as well.
Point 3

The Hachinohe Kannon Festival, Famous for Daruma Dolls

Every year in mid-February, the Hachinohe Kannon Festival is held, with Kannon being the goddess of safe childbirth. The festival's famous feature is the "daruma" dolls, with around 60 handmade by local elementary school students and community members displayed and sold near the waterfall plaza. You can enjoy the lively atmosphere of the local people and visitors during the festival, so if you're planning a trip around February, it might be a good idea to aim for the day of the festival!
Point 4

Refresh in the Midst of Nature!

Hachinohe Kannon Falls Refresh in the Midst of Nature!
Hachinohe Kannon Falls is located in a place surrounded by natural trees, allowing you to feel the grandeur of nature. If you approach the basin of the falls, you can bathe in plenty of negative ions from the water droplets, making it a recommended summer retreat! As it is rich in nature, it's also nice to go bug hunting with your family while visiting the falls and interact with nature. From children to adults, you can refresh while feeling the allure of nature!
Point 5

A Hidden Gem for Those Who Want to Avoid Crowds!

Hachinohe Kannon Falls A Hidden Gem for Those Who Want to Avoid Crowds!
The Hachinohe Kannon Waterfall is located in a slightly hard-to-find spot between Nobeoka and Takachiho, but that's exactly why it's a hidden gem and recommended for those who want to avoid crowds. Actually, even some Miyazaki locals may know about it but have never been there! In the autumn, you can also see the leaves of the trees changing colors, making it perfect for those who want to enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace and avoid the crowds.

Access

Hachinohe Kannon Falls Find the Big Sign from Route 237
Find the Big Sign from Route 237
It may be difficult to access by train, as it takes about 50 minutes by car and several hours on foot from the nearest JR Nobeoka Station. It's also difficult to access from the nearest Kyushu Expressway Kumamoto IC, which takes about 2 hours, and the stay time at the waterfall is only about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Therefore, it's recommended to stop by on the way from Takachiho to Nobeoka City (or Miyazaki City) as a side trip. When you enter the mountain about 200m from Route 237, you will see a large sign for "Hachinohe Kannon Waterfall". It's a 2.3-minute walk from the parking lot to the waterfall, and the surrounding area is rich in nature, making it a great stop for motorcycle touring or a break during a drive.
