Sightseeing

Oboke Gorge Enchanting Valley Created by Nature
Enchanting Valley Created by Nature
Oboke and Koboke are valleys created by the fierce currents of the Yoshino River over approximately 200 million years, stretching about 8 kilometers in length. The beautiful scenery resembles a sculpture of marble rising up, and is said to be a nationally valuable location where one can understand the formation of the Japanese archipelago. Despite its slightly unusual name, there are many theories about its origin, such as "Oboke means a cliff, and it's dangerous to walk with a wide stride, so it's called Oboke." Visit and discover the true origin for yourself!
