The Charm of a Clear Stream and Beautiful Waterfall

Shiraito Falls is a waterfall located on the slopes of Hagane Mountain in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and it beautifully flows down from an altitude of 900 meters. Its powerful drop is about 24 meters. This waterfall is a designated scenic spot in Fukuoka Prefecture and is particularly popular among families as a place of relaxation filled with negative ions and the blessings of nature. During the rainy season, the flowers of the hydrangeas spread out and color the area, creating a breathtaking view along with Shiraito Falls. At the end of June, the "Hydrangea Festival" is held by the Shiraito Hydrangea Association, where events such as flower cutting and mochi throwing are held, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. Challenge Yourself to Yamame Fishing!

At Shiraito Falls, the annual "Yamame Fishing Festival" is held during the Golden Week holidays and can be enjoyed until late November. Rental equipment such as fishing rods are included in the fee (2500 yen), making it easy for even first-time participants or children to join in without bringing their own gear. It's a popular activity where you can catch up to 4 fish, and even if you don't catch any, you'll be compensated with 3 fish, so there's no loss. Why not spend a wonderful time with your family while enjoying the negative ions of the mountain stream?

Nature Walk on a 30-Minute Walking Course

At Shiraito Falls, there is a nature trail along the stream that leads to Shiraito Falls Fureai no Sato, where you can enjoy plenty of negative ions. It's only 1.3 km from the bus stop and can be accessed via a 30-minute walking route, making it easy for women and children to experience. Regardless of the season, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the murmuring river, changing colors of the trees, and the songs of birds. There are also many photo spots, so you can capture a memorable moment. Please wear comfortable clothing as you need to be careful of your footing.

Accessible by Car in about 45 Minutes from Hakata Station! Also Accessible by Train

Access to Shiraito Falls is convenient as it can be reached by car, bus, or train. By car, it takes about 20 minutes from Maebara Interchange (about 45 minutes from Hakata Station, about 40 minutes from Tenjin). You can use the free parking lot at Shiraito Falls or the parking lot for the promenade. If you use the train, go to Chikuzen-Maebaru Station on the JR Chikuhi Line (directly from the Subway Airport Line), then transfer to the Itoshima City Community Bus (Shiraito Line) and access the promenade from there. Please note that the number of buses is limited. From the bus stop to Shiraito Falls Fureai-no-Sato, you will walk up the nature trail (promenade), so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes.
