慶応元年1865年 正月 10日 大木津・川上口の戦いの地 案内板を読んでもよく状況が理解できませんでしたが、ご近所に住んでいる方々にお尋ねしたところ詳しくお話をしていただけました。 金麗社の本陣にいた山県有朋らの諸隊は、ここの農家の家々に分散していた萩政府軍を、この写真の上にある山と山の谷間あたりから鉄砲で攻撃してきたそうです。 当日雨も降り。また火縄銃を使用していた萩政府軍は、手元から弾丸を込める鉄砲を使う諸隊に勝てるすべもなく敗退したそうです。 農民の人たちは、このような戦時に逃げて過ごす場所が昔からあり、その東南の方向にあるその場所で隠れ住んでいたそうです。 このような話をしてくれた方々の一人が、自宅の庇に、当時の弾丸の跡が残っている、と言われていました。 なかなから面白いお話を伺うことができました。
