薩摩藩によってつくられた「日本三大薬園跡」とのことで、佐多岬の帰りに立ち寄りました。5分程あれば見て回ることができる広さです。園内は南国の木々が茂っていますが、どの木が何なのか少し表示が分かりにくいように感じました。 ただ、ちょうど竜眼の実がなっており、テンションが上がりました。(11月来園) 他にも木の実がなっているのかヒヨドリたちが大騒ぎしてました。 *駐車場は薬園近くの佐多駐在所の横にあります。公衆トイレもありました。

改修工事が今年の春に完了。改修前と比較したら、天国と地獄ですね。ええ〜こんなにも違うの!って言う位ビックリでした。ただ、駐車場から灯台や展望台に行く距離は変わってませんが、これは全然問題無い、と言うか、これでいいと思いました。とにかく、昔の佐多岬しか知らない「あにた」是非一度足を運んでみて下さい。

鹿児島県南大隅町佐多にある、佐多旧薬園。入場無料で、自由に見ることができます。薩摩藩の薬園跡だそうです。果物でよく知っている、レイシやリュウガン、ガジュマル、月桃やアカテツなど南国ならではの植物が生い茂っています。国指定の史跡。看板はあるものの、どれがどの植物かわかりにくいのでもう少しわかりやすかったらもっと楽しいと思います。何度か行ってますが、いつも貸し切りです。人がほとんどいないので、ゆっくり楽しめます。
