辺りに硫黄の香りが立ち込めます。 夕方になるとココの蒸気が山に掛かり出して海風の湿気と相まって立山がガスることがあります。 山登りされない方は、この景色は圧巻だと思います 大分の別所温泉や青森の後生掛温泉にも似たとこがあります。(他にもあるかも。。。)

富山県中新川郡立山町にある地獄谷ですね。 周辺は草木が生えておらずモクモクと煙が出ています。 近くに寄って見ることは出来ません。 かなり硫黄の匂いがして風向きによっては気分が悪くなりそうです。 あちこちにガス警報器がありますので行動に注意しましょう。

昼夜を問わず火山性ガスがたちのぼる荒涼たる光景が魅力の景勝地です。規模的には箱根の大涌谷に遠く及ばないものの、立山の峰々と遠くに見える富山平野と富山湾、能登半島とのコラボが魅力です、 現在、地獄谷周辺は立入が禁止されていて、遊歩道も閉鎖されています。植生は意外と豊かで、谷底近くでも高山植物が青々と茂っている部分もあります。安全なところにはライチョウもいます。ただ、谷側だけが枯れているハイマツ林などを目の当たりにすると、ゆめゆめ侮るべきではないと実感できます。 地獄谷からは温泉が湧出しているので、周辺にはいくつかの宿泊施設があるのですが、火山性ガスの濃度を監視して警報を発する装置があちこちに設置されているので、一定の安全性は確保されています。
