Niji no Matsubara

The Rainbow Pine Forest in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, is a beautiful coastline with white sandy beaches and lush green pine forests overlooking the sea. The pine forest, which stretches for about 4 km, has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best white sand and green pine forests and one of Japan's three largest pine forests. About 1,000 pine trees are planted along the coastline, which is also known for its beautiful sunsets. There are also many restaurants and cafes in the area where you can enjoy dishes made with squid from Yobuko, so you can enjoy a meal while sightseeing!

There are many tourist spots in the area around Niji no Matsubara in Karatsu City. There are also spots where you can experience history and culture, such as Karatsu Castle and the ruins of Nagoya Castle in Hizen. In addition, at the Yobuko Morning Market, you can find a variety of fresh seafood, and at the Karatsu-yaki pottery kilns, you can try your hand at pottery making. Furthermore, about a 30-minute drive from Niji no Matsubara is "Nanatsugama," a scenic spot with seven large holes and emerald-colored sea, designated as a natural monument by the government.

In the area surrounding Niji no Matsubara, you can enjoy nature with activities such as camping and fishing. In the summer, you can also enjoy swimming. About a 20-minute drive from Niji no Matsubara is the Karatsu Marine Activity Park, where you can also enjoy marine sports. You can experience activities such as sea kayaking and SUP!

Access is possible by walking 15-20 minutes from Niji no Matsubara Station, but if you go by car, we recommend using the parking lot!
