長登銅山文化交流館は、日本最古の国営銅山である長登銅山の歴史博物館です。その歴史とは、8世紀初頭に日本国が開発し、東大寺で有名な奈良の大仏創建時にも大量の銅を生産し、その銅を使って奈良の大仏を鋳造しました。ここの銅山は10世紀中頃まで機能していたそうです。その後は衰退しますが、15世紀になると大内氏に引き継がれて江戸時代前期には再び活況を呈しました。明治時代には蒸気機関などの近代化を経て、昭和35年まで運営されていたようです。昭和47年に古代の銅山跡が発見されたのをキッカケに、精錬所跡の本格発掘調査が行われて日本最古の国営銅山だった事が明らかになりました。日本最古の銅山に関しては、文献にもほとんど記録がなく人々の記憶から忘れさられた銅山ですが、今となっては、その存在感は極めて大きいものだと思います。事前予約してガイドの説明は受けた方がよいです。また手づくりのメダルも事前予約して鋳造するのも面白いと思いますのでオススメですよ。

かって奈良の大仏の創建のため銅を採掘していたこの地も今は静かな山村です。木々のそよぐ音と鳥の声しかしない場所です。何もしなくても落ち着ける処ですが様々な体験イベントもあるようです。

日本画のワークショップに参加しました。江戸時代日本画琳派の絵師達を支えた、絵具の顔料が作られた場所だと教えて頂きました。初めての岩絵具を使いましたが、とても難しくて〰それでも楽しかったです! ワークショップ後、館内を見学しました! これからも良いワークショップの企画をお願いします。
