The original bath, "Kocchi no Yu," boasts open-air baths made of wood and rock, as well as indoor baths with the scent of wood, and is popular for its calm atmosphere. On the other hand, the new bath, "Acchi no Yu," which opened in 2003, is twice the size of "Kocchi no Yu" and offers views of the Kofu Basin, one of the new three best night views in Japan, as well as the sunrise. The Origin of "Hottarakashi Onsen"

The Origin of "Hottarakashi Onsen"
Located in Yatsubo, Yamanashi City, "Hottarakashi Onsen" is a famous day-trip hot spring facility that represents Yamanashi, with no advertising or services. It's a popular hot spring that attracts about 450,000 visitors annually, and its name comes from the fact that the hot spring was accidentally discovered by the landowner and left untouched without any intervention, hence the name "Hottarakashi Onsen". Originally, it was a hot spring that was drilled as a facility for a nursing home, but the plan was scrapped and it was opened as a day-trip hot spring facility. The source of the hot spring is a natural hot spring that springs up from a depth of about 1,500 meters, and it's known for making your skin smooth and silky.

A Specialty Gourmet Dish to Enjoy After Bathing: "Onsen Tamago Age"

Onsen Tamago Age is one of the signature gourmet dishes of the "Hottara-kashi Onsen" (hot spring where you can leave your food to cook while you bathe). It involves boiling eggs in hot springs and then deep-frying them in hot oil, resulting in a crispy outer texture and a soft, runny yolk inside. The combination of the salty, crispy outer layer and the oozing yolk creates a perfect balance of flavors and textures. It's a must-try dish for anyone looking to create memories at the Hottara-kashi Onsen. It's best enjoyed with a drink after bathing.
