Highlights

Point 1

Cross a Thrilling Suspension Bridge While Enjoying a Stunning View

Jogasaki Coast Cross a Thrilling Suspension Bridge While Enjoying a Stunning View
The 48-meter-long, 23-meter-high Kadowaki Suspension Bridge is a must-see popular spot when visiting the Jogasaki Coast. The sight of the cliff face, which is often chosen as a location for suspense dramas and movies, is full of power! From the suspension bridge, you can overlook the beautiful sea and rocky terrain, and on clear days, you can see Izu Oshima Island. Let's cross the suspension bridge while enjoying the view of the sea spreading out below and the white waves crashing against the shore. It's about a 5-minute walk from the parking lot (Ito City Kadowaki Paid Parking Lot), so be sure to stop by.
Point 2

Lighthouse Offering a 360-Degree Panoramic View

Jogasaki Coast Lighthouse Offering a 360-Degree Panoramic View
As a popular spot on Jogasaki Beach, there is the "Monowaki Suspension Bridge" and the 25-meter-high "Monowaki Cape Lighthouse." From the observation deck, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view, you can see a breathtaking view of the Izu Seven Islands and the steep cliffs leading to the sea. Jogasaki Beach is a coastline formed by lava that flowed out from the eruption of Oomuroyama about 4,000 years ago. You can also see Oomuroyama, which created Jogasaki Beach, and enjoy a view of both the sea and the mountains. Although you can climb to the observation deck for free, it is currently closed as of October 2022, so please check the latest information on the Izu-Ito Tourism website.
Point 3

Hiking Course: Jogasaki Picnical Course

Jogasaki Coast Hiking Course: Jogasaki Picnical Course
A hiking course called the "Jogasaki Picnical Course" has been developed along the coastline. It's a 3km, 1 hour 30 minute to 2 hour course that connects "Futo Port" to the "Izu Oceanic Park" on the promenade of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. You can enjoy the beauty of nature while having a meal or taking a break. On the course, there is the main tourist attraction, the "Monowaki Cape Lighthouse," and the "Monowaki Suspension Bridge" that hangs over the cliff. In addition, there are many other highlights such as the dining spot "Bora Naya," "Battery Ruins," and "Anaguchi," so let's check the walking map and enjoy the course. There are rest areas such as benches along the course, so you can take a break while enjoying the beautiful sea view.
Point 4

"Bora Naya" Popular for its Menu of Amberjack

"Bora Naya" is a restored fisherman's hut built for the purpose of bora fishing that was introduced from Kishu during the Edo period. You can enjoy your meal in a charming building that preserves the appearance of the time. Pets are also allowed. You can enjoy Izu's local fish dishes made with fresh seafood, such as the popular "amberjack boiled set meal" and "amberjack pickled rice bowl". There is also a parking lot available, and you can enjoy a stroll to the suspension bridge for 1000 yen for large vehicles and 500 yen for passenger cars. In addition, those who use the restaurant can use the parking lot for free. On the premises, there is a seawater pool that utilizes the rocky coast facing the sea, which opens in the summer. It's a fun spot for children to play as well.

Jogasaki Coast Planning your transportation in advance is recommended
Planning your transportation in advance is recommended
If you plan to use public transportation, we recommend planning in advance which spots you want to visit, such as strolling along the coast of Shirahama Beach or only visiting the area near the "Monowaki Suspension Bridge," and considering your method of transportation. If taking the train, you can arrive near the "Monowaki Suspension Bridge" after a 35-minute walk from JR Izu Kyuko Line's "Shirahama Beach Station." You can also take the 170 or 172 Kogen Line bus bound for "Izu Ocean Park" from the "Hasuochi-guchi" bus stop, which is about a 6-minute walk from the station, and enjoy the view of Shirahama Beach while walking the Shirahama Beach Picnic Course after getting off at "Izu Ocean Park." However, as the number of buses is limited, please don't forget to check the timetable if you plan to use them. If you take a taxi from Shirahama Beach Station, you can arrive near the "Monowaki Suspension Bridge" in about 6 minutes. If you come by car, it takes about 100 minutes from Tomei Expressway "Numazu IC" or Shin-Tomei Expressway "Nagaizumi Numazu IC" to arrive.

Parking

Recommended Parking Around Your Desired Spot
The "Ito City Kadowaki Parking Lot," located a 1-2 minute walk from the "Kadowaki Suspension Bridge," is recommended for those who want to arrive quickly as it is free for the first 15 minutes and costs 500 yen per day. The "Bora Naya" offers parking for large vehicles at 1000 yen and for regular cars at 500 yen, with free parking for those who dine there. It's recommended for those who want to enjoy a leisurely stroll, as it takes about 10 minutes to walk along the regular road and about 20-25 minutes using the Jogasaki Picnic Course to reach the "Kadowaki Suspension Bridge." In addition, there is parking at the "New York Lamp Museum & Flower Garden," and those who enter the museum can park for free. After visiting the "New York Lamp Museum & Flower Garden," you can also enjoy a walk along the coast while taking in the scenery, as it takes about 20 minutes to access the "Kadowaki Suspension Bridge" using the Jogasaki Picnic Course.
