Highlights

Point 1

Popular Square for Interacting with Animals

Kanazawa Zoo Popular Square for Interacting with Animals
At Kanazawa Zoo, there is a "heartwarming square" where you can experience feeding goats and sheep. During snack time from 11:00-11:10 and 13:30-13:40 on weekdays, you can experience feeding them, making it popular among families with children! You can also see ponies up close while feeding, making you feel even closer to the animals than usual. Feeding is limited to 20 groups per session, so don't miss out if you want to interact with the goats!
Point 2

Animals Living Divided by Habitat on 4 Continents

Kanazawa Zoo Animals Living Divided by Habitat on 4 Continents
At Kanazawa Zoo, animals are exhibited divided into four continents: the Americas, Eurasia, Oceania, and Africa. Many animals, including those considered rare herbivores and endangered species, live here! The area where the kangaroos live is a walk-through, allowing you to feel closer to the animals. The lunchtime of the koalas, which takes place every Thursday at 11:30, is popular for the adorable sight of the koalas munching on their food! When you visit Kanazawa Zoo, be sure to check it out.
Point 3

Enjoy the Scenery of the Four Seasons at Kanazawa Nature Park

Kanazawa Zoo Enjoy the Scenery of the Four Seasons at Kanazawa Nature Park
Kanazawa Nature Park, which includes a zoo, is renowned for its beautiful natural scenery and views. The park covers approximately 600,000 square meters and features the largest roller slide and barbecue area in Yokohama, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. After enjoying the zoo, it's recommended to play at the "Children's Playground" with athletic equipment, and then indulge in delicious meat at the barbecue area before heading home. There are also spots where you can enjoy nature at a leisurely pace, such as the plum forest in February and the autumn leaves in "Mizunotani".
Point 4

Delicious Locally Sourced Udon at the Cafe

At the Nonohana Building in Kanazawa Natural Park, you can enjoy a menu of meals such as freshly baked bread from the Kanagawa Prefecture's long-established "Suzukiya" and udon and curry made with local ingredients. Additionally, at the "Wakuwaku Kitchen" inside Kanazawa Zoo, you can enjoy light meals while feeling the nature outside. A recommended item is the "Koala Soft Serve" which features a koala motif. The koala's ears are made of cookies, and the combination of cookies and soft serve is excellent! There are also other options such as yakisoba, takoyaki, and Yokohama Caravan Coffee, so please come and visit.
Point 5

Get Souvenirs to Remember Your Trip to the Zoo!

At the Nonohana Pavilion in Kanazawa Nature Park, the Nonohana Gift Shop offers a wide variety of recommended goods that make great souvenirs for those who have visited Kanazawa Zoo or Kanazawa Nature Park! The shop has a calming garden-like atmosphere, allowing you to take your time selecting items such as stuffed animals and sweets. With a wide variety of stuffed animals available, including giraffes, elephants, and koalas, you're sure to find your favorite. Additionally, the shop's variety of cashless payment options is also one of its attractions.

A Zoo with a Free Shuttle Bus!
Kanazawa Zoo is conveniently accessible by bus or car! As an example of access, take the Keikyu bus bound for "Nomura Jutaku Center" from "Kanazawa Bunko Station" on the Keihin Kyuko Line, get off at the bus stop called "Natsuyama Sakagami," and arrive at the entrance of the zoo after a 6-minute walk. There are various ways to get there, but it's recommended to give yourself plenty of time to move around as you can't get to the zoo without using not only trains but also buses. If you're going by car, be sure to set your car navigation system to "Kanazawa Natural Park High-Speed Side Parking Lot" or "Kanazawa Natural Park Front Entrance Parking Lot." The ticket booth for the zoo is located a 2-3 minute walk from the gate of Kanazawa Natural Park called "Nikoniko Plaza," and a free shuttle bus called "Koala Bus" runs from the front entrance parking lot to this gate. It's about a 15-minute uphill walk from the parking lot to the gate, but it's also nice to hike and enjoy nature on your way to the zoo.

Creatures

Interact with Animals at a Zoo with Many Herbivores
One of the features of Kanazawa Zoo is that it mainly houses rare herbivorous animals from around the world. About 1,058 animals from approximately 51 species live in the park, including many herbivorous animals that can only be seen at Kanazawa Zoo, such as Baird's tapir and Japanese serow. Endangered species such as okapi and koalas also live here, making it a great place to enjoy the zoo all day long. The zoo's website provides easy-to-understand information and photos of the animals, so it's also fun to observe the animals while looking at the website in the park.
