韮崎市にある桜の名所。わに塚と呼ばれる塚の上に樹齢300年を超える大きなエドヒガンザクラの一本桜が立っています。天気が良いと富士山も一緒に撮影することができるため、絶景が撮れるスポットとして大人気です。 桜が見頃の時期になると近隣の公民館や体育館に臨時の駐車場(合計で普通車 約120台分)が設けられますが、土日はとても混雑して周辺道路が渋滞するため、可能であれば平日の訪問がおすすめです。夜間にはライトアップも催されますが、出店などはありませんのでご注意ください。 「わに塚」と呼ばれるようになった由来ですが、日本武尊(やまとたけるのみこと)の王子・武田王のお墓という説や、地形が仏具の一種のわに口に似ているからなど諸説あるようですね。

ライトアップに合わせて夕方から日没まで居ました。 圧巻の満開の桜は今までに見たこともないくらいに美しくていつまでも見ていられる程です。 色々な角度から見ると表情が違ってくるのでぐるぐる回りながらお気に入りのアングルを見つけてみて下さい。 そうぞの100倍圧巻の大きさと美しさです。 周りの山々の景色も素晴らしく一本の桜の美しさを一際際立たせています。

ビル5階建て相当の高さのある 塚の上に立つ樹齢約300~330年の1本桜 夜にライトアップも威厳があって荘厳で素敵! 昼間のわに塚の桜は背景の冠雪した八ヶ岳連峰で優雅で圧巻です! 傾斜地の真ん中にあり、坂下に駐車場がありますが、そこはすぐいっぱいで入庫待ちの列ができていますが、坂上の武田廣神社のあたりに無料の臨時駐車場が100台近く止められます 警備員も出ていて誘導してくれていて、無料で全て見れてしまうので、桜の保全なども考えると何かで少し有料化しても良いのではと心配になってしまいました。
