西浦半島の先端、パームビーチの駐車場のところから、小高い山にある稲村神社まで遊歩道があります。その遊歩道には万葉歌人が三河湾の美しさを詠んだ歌碑が置かれています。 「夢のみに 継ぎて見えつつ 小竹島の 磯越す波の しくしく思ほゆ」この「小竹島」は蒲郡の竹島ではなく、篠島です。小さい竹を篠と言いますが、小竹=篠、篠島です。(この歌がお気に入りなもので…) この歌の他にも伊良湖や御油を詠んだ歌、そして柿本人麿、麻績王、高市連黒人、長忌寸奥麿という、みんな知ってる歌人の歌が並んでいます。(あ、まあ、わたしは…) 登り坂になっています。無理は禁物です。

令和6年5月20日、万葉文化振興会主催の東海万葉バス旅行「尾張・三河の史跡と万葉の舞台をめぐる旅」にて訪問 西浦温泉の小高い山にあり、万葉歌人が三河湾の美しさを詠んだ歌碑を楽しめる遊歩道です。 登り始めの階段は急傾斜ですが、緩やかになってからは時折海が広がって見え絶景です。 駐車場にはトイレあり。

三河湾の西浦半島先端にあって、海の眺めが最高なスポット。15〜30分ぐらいのトレッキングで絶景を楽しむことができます。 西浦温泉の海水浴場「パームビーチ」から、地元の鎮神様である稲村神社へと続く道に、万葉時代の和歌を刻んだ石や立札が設置されています。道はきれいに整備されていて、緑を楽しみながら歩くため、移動はさほど苦にはなりませんでした。樹々によって日差しから守られるので、夏場の暑い時期でも涼をとりながら登れますね。神社に向かうにつれ、潮の香りが強くなります。 稲村神社の表参道近くには希望の鐘が設置されているビューポイントがあって、海からの日の出を見ることができます。年末年始に西浦温泉郷に宿泊される方は、元旦のご来光と初詣のセットで行かれてみてはいかがでしょうか。きっとご利益があると思います。
