Founded by Ashikaga Yoshikane, Banna-ji Temple is said to have been built in the late Kamakura period and was constructed on the site of the Ashikaga clan's residence, so there are many buildings on the premises that are related to the Ashikaga clan. Within the temple grounds, there are many highlights, such as a 650-year-old large ginkgo tree, a national treasure main hall with a solemn atmosphere, as well as a many other buildings such as a Tahoto pagoda, Issai-kyo Hall, and a tower gate. It's located right near the Ashikaga School ruins, so we recommend visiting both spots together as a tourist destination!

Ashikaga Flower Park and Ashikaga School are both located in the city of Ashikaga. Ashikaga Flower Park is a vast park where you can enjoy various flowers throughout the seasons, and is famous for its wisteria flowers, which are said to be a sacred place for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba fans, as well as its illumination events. Both Ashikaga School and Ashikaga Flower Park are representative tourist spots of Ashikaga City, and attract many tourists. History

Japan's First School Founded by Uesugi Norimasa!

The Ashikaga School, founded in 1439 by Kantō Kanrei (deputy shogun) Uesugi Norimasa, was Japan's first school with the aim of nurturing individuals who had acquired knowledge and culture. The school was operated by the teacher and Zen monk Kaigen, who was personally selected by Uesugi Norimasa, and offered a variety of subjects such as classical literature and Confucianism. It was introduced overseas by Francis Xavier, and is also known for contributing to Japan's modernization by producing many talented individuals. Today, you can learn about its history and achievements at the Ashikaga School Museum in Ashikaga City.

社会の教科書にも出てくる足利学校です✨ 再建ですが、しっかり整備され拝観する価値は十分な場所です☺ 近くには、鑁阿寺や映画の撮影地になった雰囲気の良い参道や何かゆったりとした時間を感じる良い場所だと思います。創建にはいくつもの説があるようですが、「日本最古の学校」ですね! 今は、史跡としてもしっかり保存されていますし学校内には市民活動の募金等により明治以降から貴重な本類を収集貯蔵した足利文庫もあります。裏手にある鑁阿寺と一緒に見学してみて下さいね☺おすすめな場所ですよ!

日本最古の学校を見てきました。入場は500円くらいです。チケットを買うと「入学おめでとうございます」と行ってもらい、入学書(チケット)をもらえます。中は思ったより広く、お稲荷様も奉られていました。御朱印も頂けます。2月にいったので梅の花がプリントされてて、とてもキレイでした。学校には日本風の中庭があり教室から見えました。机があり、底には漢字テストの用紙もあり来た人は参加出来るようになってます。ほのぼのした中での学校には、癒されました。

素晴らしいの一言でした。歴史的建築物。天気が良かったのもありますが、縁側から眺める日本庭園が美しかった。出土遺物なども興味深かったです。学芸員さんの熱心さが伝わる、書物の講義は、歩いていたら声かけられて参加しました。ザビエルにルイス・フロイスの事績の説明はここでしか分からなかったであろう内容でした。入館料（大人480円）支払い時に渡された、入学証、学生証はいいアイデアですね。いい思い出になります。帰りに、論語抄とかな論語（200円と150円）購入し、孔子さまの勉強をすることにしました。駐車場は国道を挟んで反対側、太平記館に観光駐車場があります。歩道橋を渡る必要があります。
