Highlights

Point 1

Encounter Creatures Living in the Pacific and Surrounding Areas

Kaiyukan Encounter Creatures Living in the Pacific and Surrounding Areas
At the Kaiyukan Aquarium, creatures living in the Pacific and the surrounding areas can be found. There are a total of 19 areas in the facility that introduce various living creatures, including the Aqua Gate and the Jellyfish Galaxy Area. The areas are divided into different habitats such as the ocean, forest, deep sea, and Antarctica, allowing visitors to encounter a variety of creatures depending on the habitat area. From popular whale sharks and seals to adorable fish, they will welcome you. You can see them right in front of the tanks and feel the mystery and power of the ocean.
Point 2

Observing Creatures' Munching Time

Kaiyukan Observing Creatures' Munching Time

One of the features of the Kaiyukan Aquarium is being able to observe creatures during their mealtime. Each animal has a designated feeding time, so you can see your favorite animals eating at the appropriate time. You can watch the creatures' eating habits and characteristics up close, right next to the acrylic panels, which can be quite powerful. You may even discover something new! Additionally, you may be able to see the training process as well.
Point 3

Experience a Mysterious World with a Unique Twist at the Night Aquarium

Kaiyukan Experience a Mysterious World with a Unique Twist at the Night Aquarium
Did you know that you can enjoy the aquarium at night? Starting from 5 pm, the "Night Aquarium" presents a different appearance from the daytime. The interior is illuminated with light and sound, and the view of the aquarium from that space is fantastic. You can enjoy a mysterious experience as if you have become a part of the sea, with fish swimming in the blue sea. You will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by the appearance of the aquarium that is different from usual. Additionally, the Night Aquarium is recommended for couples. You can enjoy a romantic time throughout and create unforgettable memories.
Point 4

Double the Fun at the Kaiyukan Aquarium with Winter Illuminations

Double the Fun at the Kaiyukan Aquarium with Winter Illuminations
In winter, the area in front of the Kaiyukan Aquarium is decorated with illuminations. The illuminations, which recreate trees and creatures from the aquarium, light up and entertain passersby. You might find your heart dancing in this colorful world! It's great to be able to enjoy not only the aquarium, but also the illuminations. The excitement continues even after leaving the aquarium. It will make you feel warm inside even in the cold winter.
Point 5

Join a Guided Tour and Sneak into the Back of the Kaiyukan Aquarium

At the Kaiyukan Aquarium, there is a weekend-only guided tour called the "Personal Backyard Tour". The tour allows you to get up close and personal with the back of the aquarium, such as walking through passages that are normally only accessible to the keepers and seeing the freezer where the animals' food is stored. You can observe things that are not usually visible at the aquarium, such as the keepers' work and what the animals are eating, so you're sure to get excited! You can also see the aquarium from a different perspective, such as from directly above the tanks, which adds to the excitement of the experience.
Point 6

Spend a Special Time Participating in Events at the Kaiyukan Aquarium

Did you know that the Kaiyukan Aquarium holds various events? The three main events are "Investigation of Osaka Bay and Snails and Biological Surveys," "Kaiyukan School Outing," and "Overnight School/Night Tour." Although the duration of each event is fixed, they are perfect for creating special memories. "Investigation of Osaka Bay and Snails and Biological Surveys" involves surveying wild snails living in Osaka Bay and small creatures living in Osaka Port. You can actually experience and think about what kind of environment is needed to ensure that snails can continue to live in Osaka Bay, and whether there have been any changes in the creatures living in Osaka Port. By participating in "Kaiyukan School Outing," you can go on a one-night, two-day field trip with the animal keepers. You can spend a special and enjoyable time that you can't experience in your daily life by actually interacting with nature. In the past, activities such as going to an uninhabited island by sea kayak, searching for jellyfish, and experiencing fishing have been held! By moving your body, you will definitely create unforgettable memories. In "Overnight School/Night Tour," you can sneak into the Kaiyukan Aquarium after it closes and observe the nocturnal creatures, or experience sleeping in a sleeping bag in front of the aquarium tanks while watching the creatures. You can enjoy a mysterious feeling of being integrated with the sea and spend a calm and healing time in the quiet Kaiyukan Aquarium. Please enjoy the special experience that you can rarely have at the Kaiyukan Aquarium.
Point 7

Shorten Waiting Time by Purchasing Web Tickets in Advance

By purchasing admission tickets to Kaiyukan Aquarium in advance on the web, you can shorten your waiting time. Especially during vacation seasons such as weekends and summer holidays, there is a possibility of waiting in line to purchase tickets. By purchasing tickets in advance, you can save time waiting in line on the day of your visit and proceed directly to the entrance gate! It's recommended to have the QR code of your web ticket ready on your smartphone or printed out for a smooth entry.

Required time

Kaiyukan Allow Plenty of Time to See Everything
Allow Plenty of Time to See Everything
The amount of time needed at the Kaiyukan Aquarium is approximately 90-120 minutes. As there are many creatures to see, it may take a bit longer if you want to see everything in detail. Therefore, if you aim to spend around 2 hours, you should have plenty of time to see everything. The inside of the aquarium is one-way, and there is only one exit, so it's possible to smoothly see everything.

Access

Kaiyukan Arrive within 5 minutes of getting off public transportation
Arrive within 5 minutes of getting off public transportation
There are three ways to access the Kaiyukan Aquarium: by train, bus, or shuttle boat. If taking the train, get off at "Osaka-ko Station" on the Osaka Metro Chuo Line and walk about 5 minutes from the nearest exit to reach the aquarium. If taking the bus, get off at "Tempozan Harbor Village" on the Osaka City Bus or "Kaiyukan (Tempozan)" on the Nankai Bus to arrive immediately. Additionally, the Captain Line shuttle boat operates from near Universal Studios Japan, and it is also possible to use it. When disembarking at "Kaiyukan Nishi Hatoba," you can go straight to the aquarium.
