昔ながらの茅葺屋根が立ち並び、それぞれに色々な民芸品の作り手さんが在籍し、またその場所で実際に作業をされており、話しを聞けたり製作物を購入することが出来る場所です。色々な体験も出来、空きがあれば当日でもやることが出来るのですが、事前予約がお勧めです。 また入口に堅香子と言うカフェがあり炭焼きコーヒーやケーキが楽しめます。炭焼きコーヒーは酸味があまりなく程良い苦味があり、個人的には好きな味でした。季節限定のあまおうモンブランも頂きましたが、こちらも苺の甘酸っぱさがとても美味しい一品でした。 紅葉の名所香嵐渓の一角?にあり、香積寺や飯盛山などの散策スポットも多々ありますので、世代を問わず楽しめる場所だと思いました。

昔ながらの職人さんの手仕事ぶりを間近で見ることができ、しかも人によっては解説もしてくださいます。 特に私は鍛冶屋が気になって、ちょっとしばらく見入ってしまいました。人生で初めて見た鍛冶屋の作業、なんか興奮するものがありました。

足助の生活やものづくり文化を集約した博物館。実演もされており観光資源として活用されている。牛や鶏も飼われていて当時の雰囲気がよく出ているのだと思う。 美術館も併設してあり楽しめる。 また、文化学術継承のみならず、大自然のバーベキューや、お土産物屋、カフェ、茶屋なども併設されており、アミューズメント効果も高い。 敷地は広く無いけれど十分楽しめる。
