Point 2

Within Walking Distance to the Stunning "Dream Suspension Bridge"

Sunomata Gorge Onsen Within Walking Distance to the Stunning "Dream Suspension Bridge"
Located at the entrance of Sunomata Gorge Hot Spring Town, the "Dream Suspension Bridge" is a wooden bridge that spans about 90m in length and 8m in height over the dam lake of Oma Dam, a tributary of the Oi River. It was once used as a lifeline for loggers and villagers, but now it attracts visitors as a photogenic spot with the beautiful blue color of the lake. Although it's within walking distance, it takes about 30 minutes to walk from the nearest parking lot in Sunomata Gorge Hot Spring Town, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes that can get dirty. The swaying suspension bridge is more thrilling than you might imagine, so please enjoy it while following the rules for crossing safely.
Point 3

Enjoy the Scenic Views of Every Season!

Sunomata Gorge Onsen Enjoy the Scenic Views of Every Season!
Around the Susuki River Gorge, which has been designated as a UNESCO Eco-Park of the Southern Alps, there are many spots where you can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and trekking. In particular, during the autumn season from early to late November when the trees turn red, many tourists visit to enjoy the stunning scenery. Although there aren't many hiking courses that require heavy equipment, it's best to wear warm clothes such as fleece or down vests and bring a backpack or shoulder bag that leaves your hands free, as the area can get chilly in the afternoon.
Point 4

If you take soba as a souvenir, you can also enjoy the simple taste of the mountains at home.

The quaint atmosphere of the traditional mountain hot spring town is carefully preserved. After enjoying a nature walk in the surrounding area, why not soak in the unique, thick hot spring water of Sunamachi Gorge and experience a moment of relaxation for both body and mind?

A Hidden Hot Spring Surrounded by Nature
Sunomata Gorge Onsen, nestled in a deep valley in the Southern Alps of Shizuoka Prefecture, is known as a secret hot spring that has been visited by many people since the post-war economic development and tourism boom. With a pH of 8.9, the alkaline simple sulfur spring has a faint sulfur smell and the hot spring ingredients that make the hot water dance with yunohana dissolve unnecessary keratin on the skin, making the skin smooth and silky after bathing. It is also known as the "beauty-making hot spring".

Access by Bus from Chitou Station or Okuizumi Station Takes About 40 Minutes
By train or bus, take the Oigawa Railway to Chitou Station and then take the bus bound for Sunnatake Onsen for about 40 minutes. By car, take the Tomei Expressway at the Shizuoka IC or the Shin-Tomei Expressway at the Shimada-Kanaya IC and drive for about 1.5 to 2 hours to Sunnatake Onsen. As the road to Sunnatake Gorge is almost a straight line and the surrounding roads are narrow, it's recommended to leave with plenty of time on weekends or during peak autumn foliage season.
