日向のお伊勢さんと呼ばれる、大御神社。 御祭神は天照皇大御神で、神武天皇も東遷の際、立ち寄ったという。 境内は広いうえに、神社には珍しく森や特に樹木の植栽も無いため、非常に開放的。一面に白い砂利が敷き詰められていて、晴天だととても清々しい気持ちになれる。 また、日向灘の大海原に隣接していて展望もよく、巨岩や柱状節理の絶景を望める。 社殿は国の登録有形文化財となっていおり、海岸に隣接する大岩上にあって特段大きい訳では無いが、堂々としており周囲の絶景に絶妙にマッチしている。 境内最奥に有名な「さざれ石」及び「龍神の霊」があり地球の歴史を感じさせる。 なお、境内から海岸へ(自己責任で)降りていくことも可能。

眼下に日向灘が広がる大御神社。御朱印を頂に参りました 出来上がるまでの間に神社内探索、幻想的な鵜戸神社の洞窟 大海原を感じ取れる遊歩道とても良い所です。

とても神秘的な場所でした。境内はとても開放的です。奥の階段はかなり急なので手すりを利用した方が良いと思います。駐車場は他の駐車場があるか分かりませんが、15台位停めれるかんじです。
