曹洞宗寺院。山肌に寄り添っている様なところが良い雰囲気を出しています。今回の参拝は冬。南向きなのか、まだ開花していない所が多い中、紅梅が開花し出していました。四季折々の景色が楽しめそうな寺院です。

二俣尾駅から歩いてすぐの禅寺。春はしだれ桜や染井吉野、ツツジやシャクナゲなどお花が美しいお寺です。また、山門が立派で見応えがあります。

瑞龍山 海禅寺 戦国時代には天皇の勅願所だった寺格の高い寺院。 都の指定文化財に成っている。 春には枝下桜や躑躅の花が美しい。 実は元の名前は福禅寺だったのだが徳川幕府の役人のミスで寺領を担保する将軍の朱印状に“福”禅寺ではなく“海”禅寺と誤記されてしまった事により已む無く海禅寺と寺号を改めて現在に至る。 室町時代には青梅を支配した小大名の三田氏の菩提寺だった。 三田氏滅亡後は戦国時代の北条家とも縁が深く、間宮林蔵の祖先で北条家臣の間宮氏が横浜市鶴見区に宝泉寺を再興した際に寺格の高い“福”禅寺から住職が招かれ再興開基されている。 当地は旧二俣尾村だが二俣尾村の庄屋は福島家で、間宮家とは玉縄衆として北条家時代の同僚に当たる事からも、北条家臣団から深く崇敬を集めた様だ。
