長岡京市で由緒あるお寺 境内が広く 行ってみて歴史が古いことがわかった 牡丹も有名だそうだが 残念ながら4月26日には咲き終わっていたので 無料で拝観できた

12月8日まで十一面観音立像と毘沙門天立像が特別公開されています 拝観料1000円 牡丹の名所らしいですが、今の時期は人も少なくひっそりとしていた。 小倉山荘から徒歩で文化センター通り沿いに所々あるボロい案内看板を頼りに歩いていたら全然違う場所を歩いていた何あの看板(;´д`)

推古天皇の時代、聖徳太子により建立されたといういわれを持ちます。かつての乙訓宮の跡地とも。その後、弘法大師空海により整備されました。織田信長の攻撃に遭うなど政治的に厳しい時期もありましたが、江戸時代、徳川綱吉の時代に再建されました。「古刹」の部類に入るのですが、住宅地にある長閑な寺、といった風情で敷居は非常に低いです。牡丹で著名ですが、石畳の路地にある木々の紅葉は必見と思います。また、重要文化財である毘沙門天立像、十一面観音立像が納められており時折、一般公開されます。
