Refresh Yourself with the Summer Breeze and Greenery

Oirase Stream Refresh Yourself with the Summer Breeze and Greenery
The Oirase Stream is surrounded by rich nature and offers beautiful views of waterfalls and fast-flowing rivers. You can refresh your mind and body while being in harmony with nature. In addition, there are trekking courses available along the Oirase Stream, and walking through the lush greenery in the summer is exceptional. Walking through the green forest allows you to experience a refreshing feeling that you cannot feel in your daily life.
Point 2

Best Season for Autumn Foliage Viewing from Late October

Oirase Stream Best Season for Autumn Foliage Viewing from Late October
The autumn foliage season is especially recommended. Many tourists from both Japan and abroad visit to see the vivid red and yellow leaves together with the clear streams and waterfalls. In particular, the foliage along the stream with the magnificent view of Lake Towada in the background is breathtaking. Along the Oirase Stream, you can also enjoy forest bathing and trekking. Since the timing of the best viewing period for the foliage along the stream varies depending on the weather and temperature, be sure to check the official website or local information and plan accordingly. Viewing the foliage along the Oirase Stream is a luxurious gift of nature limited to the season. Why not heal your daily fatigue while feeling the pleasant breeze and touching the nature of the four seasons?
Point 3

Feel the Power of the River in the Ashura Rapids

Oirase Stream Feel the Power of the River in the Ashura Rapids
One of the popular spots in the Oirase Gorge is the Ashura Rapids. The name comes from the god of battle, Ashura, who is said to enjoy fighting, and the rapids' powerful and majestic view, which looks like it's crushing and sweeping away large rocks. The Ashura Rapids extend for about 100 meters, so you can enjoy the dynamic flow from various angles. While listening to the sound of the rushing clear stream, be sure to find a memorable photo spot!
Point 4

Near the entrance to the Oku-Imonase Stream, near Yakiyamaguchi, there is a Michi-no-Eki. It's the perfect place to grab a light meal or buy souvenirs before or after visiting the Oku-Imonase Stream. Aomori's famous local apple soft serve is a delicious treat that will soothe your tired body. In addition, there are many unique products that can only be found at a rural Michi-no-Eki, such as Aomori-grown mountain vegetables and garlic. Be sure to stop by before or after your walk and take a look!
Point 5

Winter is a Hidden Gem with Few Tourists!

Oirase Stream Winter is a Hidden Gem with Few Tourists!
In winter, the Oirase Stream may seem difficult to enter due to the heavy snowfall, and many people may think it's impossible to visit. However, in reality, it's a hidden gem where you can enjoy the pure white, silvery natural scenery of winter. Cloudy Sky Falls and Choshi Otaki Falls, in particular, offer stunning views of frozen waterfalls that are incredibly beautiful. The Shiomei Valley and Ashura Stream also have few tourists in the winter, allowing you to experience the quiet, harsh, and beautiful nature with all five senses.

Oirase Stream Tourist Spot with Lake Towada and Mt. Hakkoda
Tourist Spot with Lake Towada and Mt. Hakkoda
If you're visiting Aomori for sightseeing, we recommend not only the Oirase Stream, but also visiting Lake Towada and Mt. Hakkoda as a set. From the Oirase Stream, you can easily go to Lake Towada via Konosu. You can enjoy the green mountains as far as the eye can see in the summer, and the red leaves in the autumn by taking a sightseeing boat on Lake Towada. You can also go to the Mt. Hakkoda Ropeway in about an hour by car. Along the way, there are hidden hot springs such as Sukayu Onsen, Tsuta Onsen, and Tani Onsen. Please visit along with the Oirase Stream.

Required time

Hiking the 14km Trail of Oirase Stream
The hiking trail of Oirase Stream spans the entire length from Yakeyama-guchi to Kono-kuchi, totaling 14km. It takes about 4-5 hours to walk one way. If you go by car, you can see all the major spots in about 30 minutes to an hour, but during the peak tourist season, there may be traffic jams or traffic restrictions, so it's recommended to check the information beforehand. Even if you go on foot, during the autumn foliage season (late October), a shuttle bus operates from Yakeyama to Kyuya. You can shorten your travel time by using the shuttle bus effectively.
